Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Radio Silence

Is this typical behavior for Fidelity layoffs? They've laid off thousands of people and made a statement to the media, all the while not having the decency to communicate with their employees. No word from executives or managers. Even my coworkers are pretending like nothing is happening, including the ones I believe may have been laid off. After several years with the company, I had higher expectations and feel like I'm being gaslit.

What is the NDA going to do? Just don't talk about any personally identifiable information.

Some of you just can’t accept the truth. It’s none of your business who got let go. If you can’t figure out why there were layoffs then you don’t understand what’s going on in the economy and how the business cycle works.

It su-ks when people get laid off but unfortunately that’s the way it works. And don’t start with all this union stuff. A union doesn’t protect you from losing your job.

And it sounds like most on here don’t even like working for Fidelity anyway so why don’t you save someone’s job by RIFing yourself.

Would help with morale if the discussed the reasoning behind the layoffs since they continue to hire.
Is it due to project cancellations?
A change in direction or business goals?
Is it performance based?
Leadership is always touting openness and honesty, but that seems not to be the case here.
Wondering if they dodge questions about layoffs at next all hands mtg. I would guess they are working on spin control.
Have the business journals pondered reasoning behind it?

Honestly, it’s none of anyone’s business who was laid off. If someone wants to tell you their position has been eliminated, they will. People cope differently; keeping to one’s self is within their right.

I know you’re worried about your job, and that’s where this is coming from. It’s unfortunate that the company hasn’t addressed it, but it’s truly not your business regarding the identities of those who were affected unless it directly impacts your ability to do business. Work isn’t personal. You shouldn’t treat it that way. Take care of yourself and don’t take anything for granted. Everything is dispensable.

I messaged my manager asking about the layoffs last week and they ghosted me. They didn't acknowledge the message and sent their minion over later in the day to ask me about the message and said don't worry about layoffs. This is a clown show.

They don’t care! They view it as the consequence on not delivering on growth objectives. They only care about themselves and those that will be required to give them positive feedback on the annual survey and the 20% margins they have to preserve. Jerk the chain by sending people here to talk freely.
