Why don’t we Unionize or something? The ongoing trends of layoffs are unacceptable. Great employees should not be treated this way. Now it feels like they are just dragging it out to drain us of everything they can until their new co sourcing contracts start. Some of the people facing layoffs were just hired in masses over last two years. I feel for them. Many people don’t have alternative career options. We should band together and try to fight this thing. Make the execs take layoffs and paycuts! Not the people keeping the company afloat

What happened is that they cut back drastically on writing new business about 6-8 months ago. They are trimming the fat, trying to get rid of high risk customers or something of that sort. The company isn’t losing money overall. They are making bank. But P&C is not doing as well. Understandable if they are not writing new business. This reduces the need for staff, so some of us may be going. I’m not sure what their business plan looks like for the future. All I know is that my workload is super light right now and so is my team’s overall.
I haven't seen any 60 day WARN notices in the media yet. If there are going to be major layoffs, it'll be announced publicly.
This email was sent to us on 01/22. 60 days is coming up on Friday. Personal Lines associates are getting antsy now, how convenient that the 60 day period is on Friday, just to they can let us go in time for the weekend, if that happens.
If the company is losing money or barely turning profit; they will cut cost.
Does anyone have any idea about EAO’s layoff agenda? We had a restructuring in Feb when we moved to NW Finance, there have been talks about cutting budgets and so on. I’m worried since they didn’t even sponsor my visa extension and I’m an international 😪
The mass layoff and rehiring has been a thing since like 2019. Some people are even rehires from the layoffs in 2021.
Its hit claims, IT and HR. Underwriting is also on the chopping block and seemingly pretty much anyone in the commercial servicing center.
I’m hoping it gets averted but not hopeful as every move seems to move closer to worse news that we get in emails. I would say if you’re comfortable talk to your team/coworkers about unionizing. That’s what I started. Its worth a shot
What trends? I’m aware that some people - especially in IT and UW - have already been notified. If you know something say something. They can’t fire all of us.
I am in FNOL with a kid on the way. My first child. I really need the job stability. No one has said ANYTHING about what this job co sourcing means and I don't like it one bit. I hope I am safe. I don't know how a union works but I would be up for it if it means my job is secure.
The masses aren't smart enough to unionize. They think individual hard work will save them unfortunately.
