Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

WFS

Well, WFS live today and it was a total cluster. It took some techs hours to get dispatched and this push the tech’s ability to meet our customer commitments. But those who developed this wonderful program, that was designed to make there life’s easier, do not even know what the field does. Got to love it

Just another act of desperation. The managers don't seem to know who does what or how it gets done. What few orders we have are so mixed up it's comical. So let's put another time recording scheme in place - ON TOP OF ALL THE OTHER ONES!! I've seen this so many times at this company. But the great mystery to me is how a company can consistently loose money and talent for decades and still stay in business. I guess that's why I'm just a lowly tech and not a 'thought leader'.

I do not need Northstar to tell me how great WFS is. The is clearly the Ford of time reporting and meant to put every technician under payroll microscope. It sounds like supervisor have lost control and can no longer make decisions without payrolls approval. These people have zero idea what a tech does and are wasting about a hour a day to save a buck. But I bet they will get a great bonus

since when do we have justification for doing things?

because there was a budget for it!

or maybe a lucrative contract that a middle manager who signed with the vendor that needs to be satisfied ?!

I remember as USWEST and Qwest they always would get a new budget every two years to put in a new time reporting system. Each and every time they would introduce a new system, clearly worse than the previous one and it would take about 2 years to get the bugs out and people used to it. Then they would start over and repeat the process with another one. I see this as a return to doing that, except they have managed to stay with clarity for longer than any of the others ones and while it isn't pretty ... we all know it. But again, someone gave them a budget and with that, they will replace the old, regardless of whether it works or not. Welcome to this is how things are done here. And certainly disruptive.

Complete cluster fu-k. Not able to input or save time sheet and today I have yesterdays route plus todays route on my job list and unable to do anything with it.

Agree. The managers around here have no clue whatsoever what their techs have been doing for years. They just have their codes and numbers which make no sense at all.
