Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

*grapevine says more to come*

This is the fall of Rome. I feel the end of me is soon. I wish you all the best of luck. There were amazing people at WS. It’s such a shame they’ve been tossed to the curb like yesterdays trash. And their departure ushers in chaos, mounds of work, and no plan forward. The world has lost its way. Long gone are the days of a lifetime career and in its place is the bottom line. No CEO wants to fix the issue anymore. Easier to layoff people. Sell! Merge! So I can take the quick cash grab. Fixing it requires leadership, vision, and talent. Which the modern day CEO sorely lacks. Now I t’s just collect my millions and bonuses then on the the next company to run into the ground. Corporate greed is the sign of the times. How did we get here?

No union jobs eliminated. Hmmm maybe all you non union workers should start thinking about that if you want stability.

I went into WS knowing it’s only a matter of time until the axe drops. Still su-ks tho. Im almost glad i was laid off via a teams call. I was furious. My MIL worked there for years and I heard of many layoffs during the time I’ve known her. I only came to ws for a change of scenery and to be closer to home.

It's clear WS is going to eliminate as many positions as possible. Rumors on the street
outsourcing is their go to for positions eliminated and with the merger with Kenetic so many are going to lose their jobs on both sides. We are all just a number. Have a backup plan.Good luck everyone.

Their answer? Affinity Groups. Because it can't be a leadership problem; it's a problem with employees not 'hanging out' with each other.

True the writing has been on the wall for quite a while. I’m still shocked at how many see the warnings as only rumor and negativity while they comment “exciting times at Windstream!” on all the executive posts. No one with thinking skills should be surprised when their number is picked. Yet I do feel bad for the new blood that has been lured into joining the company without knowing the full story.

Well said to the first reply. Nobody truly cares anymore. It’s the sign of the times and it’s only getting worse. The only company's that kind of care anymore are the mom & pop run companies. Windstream bought out a lot of those places along the way and over time and booted the talent out.

It's been like that at Windstream since before Tony took over. It's not anything new. Nobody seems to care till it happens to them. There's been advice on here for years warning people and advising you to find some place job. Being layed off su-ks but people ignored the writing on the wall for years and then gets upset when there number is pulled. The corporate culture is only gonna get worse and they look for ways to save and increase revenue.
