Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

How are you, guys?

I feel horrible with so many dear colleagues and friends gone. I also expect the rest of us will fare no better in the near future. This place is so mismanaged that I am wondering whether the layoff was a blessing in disguise for those who were affected. They will now try to squeeze the max out of us until they outsource/automate as much as they can, after which the company will implode.

I was cut the last day of Feb, in enterprise sales, I had closed a lot of business since the first of the year and I was cut, while people on my team stayed with no sales… I was pi---d day one and the next day I woke up relief, I will tell you multiple partners I worked with were angry and I had opportunities open up and the company is going to lose opportunities from those partners

It was almost all enterprise specifically if you are supporting anything CLEC. I'm telling you know if you support CLEC you need to be looking for another job. That is a dead business.

It's great, I now make $1.7 million more than I did at Windstream. I now get 36 weeks of vacation now as well.

Nobody knows the numbers or departments. Management never discusses these things. We pretend it didn't happen. Sad when water cooler talk is the best intel around this dumpster fire.

The first couple of weeks were really rough for me mentally. I've finally accepted what has happened and taking this as a time to decompress and start looking for a new venture. I truly made some of the best friends ever at Windstream.

What groups are affected. What were the numbers. Essential details that everyone seems to leave out.

It was a blessing in disguise for me, I was able to pick up a 51k raise leaving this place and pick up a highly desireable cert while waiting for another job to start.

I also signed my severance doc so my signature looked like a C0ck and B4ll$

Here's some advice to those that are left, look at who your customer are and start looking at their websites for jobs. There are some good gigs out there.
