Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Riverbed engages in shady employee termination practices

Someone needs to report Riverbed to the US Department of Labor for wrongful/illegal employee termination practices because they clearly engage in it. Ever wonder why your hard working and performing coworkers are suddenly sacked? It's discrimination - age or otherwise. Riverbed Legal is aware of CA's WARN Act and avoids it by mixing in those under 40 (collateral).

Are you past the age of 40? Have tenure? Paid relatively well? Top performer? Smart? Yes man/woman? Ambitious? Vocal? Manages up? Capable? Productive? Well liked? If you answered to most of these questions, congratulations - you're likely a target to be laid off next.

Leadership is threatened by people like this because it threatens their livelihood - most likely your boss. These people make others around them look lazy and stupid by setting the curve. This paints you as not playing well with others.

The insecure and jealous boss doesn't wants someone they can't control, so to keep peace for themselves. Simply put, they're a-holes that won't go far. Legal/HR/upper management wants peons to stay peons. As a result, this dysfunctional company rewards a-holes who are lazy (not in a good way), takes others' work as their own, and are brown-nosers.

I've seen too many truly good talented people sent away with an insult of a package. If it wasn't for the soft market, I would have left long ago. Riverbed is now a place where careers come to die.

Perfectly said, I was one of those people, whom worked well into the night, New Years Eve etc. My boss was lazy, threatened by me, he even stated that he would have no job. The best thing that ever happened to me. My next job was 30% increase and promoted quickly. Riverbed is in the situation, it is in today, due to your article above.

Riverbed has been attracting fraudulent talent for years, especially when bringing Aternity back into the fold. Their leadership team is trash.

Minion has a HUGE problem with women. Just about every woman I know who worked with him called him a bully.

I fit all the criteria! and this happened to me! highly ranked employee for 6 years and one day - "you've been fired".I was very strong, very opinionated, managed a number of key programs. A Woman. Unfortunately working under "Richard WarpedD&ck" and his evil Minion. (How.the.F*k.are.they.still.there????) I pointed out that the "Dunning Kruger" was strong with them and .....bam. laid off. Package was 2 months of severance for 7 years. Well f&k you very much Cobra for 5 months so i guess that was something. I was going to leave on my own anyway....so whatevs... However it WAS unfair and borderline illegal. Ageism? maybe... I was a senior, well paid, very experienced employee who could do her managers job in her sleep..... so OBVIOUSLY....I had to go because my existence pointed to their incompetence.
David Donatelli "don't impress me much" for allowing this sort of thing to happen.

Allow me to give some sage advice - leave while you still have relevant experience.

I’d love to see Vector fined for its shady practices, but they’ll just pay it out of Riverbed’s accounts and the company will only fail faster.
