Thread regarding Ford layoffs

RTO: Is this for MI Residents Only?

Or are they telling people who live out of state & do NOT have a remote designation they have to relocate?

Manager just told an FCG they can stay where they are & someone who moved to Grand Rapids they can only come in a couple times a quarter???

I'm indifferent to being in office but why is this so unevenly distributed? If you were hired or chose remote, I completely understand but seems like this mandate is "If you live close to the office, you have to come in".

You can engineer a car working from Mexico or Brazil, but not from your home in Michigan that's within driving distance of the plant. Makes perfect sense.

Ok people, here's how this is going to go down:
Employee: I am not RTO, because I have a signed letter from my LL6 that I can work remote!
HR rep: we told you RTO is mandatory, despite any prior agreements
Employee: but I live 400 miles from the office now
HR rep: we checked your badge scans, you have only swiped in twice on the last 18 months
Employee: yeah that was for our 2 mandatory team meetings
HR rep: ok, this is when we fire you

So you're saying that despite people being given the official 'remote' designation or being hired with it it mind, the talk is still focused on calling those remote workers back into an office?

@1xtw+1rdi2RFb Same thing here (except the Naples Fl part). What worries me the most is the lack of assurances fot the future. Hard to plan for anything when I only have the "now", like in "you don't have to comeback to the office for now" from my LL6.

Another concern is the spending to RTO for one week (I doubt the company will reimburse the trip and stay expenses). It costs over a grand easily. I know because I did that once, around a year ago, to work on a project. At the time, I forked the money because it was my decision (and I was saving money by being remote).

However, the more I have to travel back and forth for whatever "need", the less attractive is to be remote. Plus the growing possibility that the fully remote will be the first to go in the next layoff.

I am tired of the mental games at this company. Why the leadership is not honest? We are allegedly all grown ups and we should be able to deal with the news, good or bad. Even receiving bad news is better when there is transparency.

I moved to Naples FL shortly after the pandemic and had prior approval to go full on remote. Lo and behold, now they are requiring the three days a week, I've been told I can stay put for now and most likely would be able to work fully remote unless there is a dire need for an in person meeting at which time would need to return for the time needed (less than a week) and then would return to Naples. As of now, there have been no circumstances that warranted a return to the main campus.

As usual, the exceptions outnumber the rule. One guy said he works from his cottage in the summer and our supervisor said that would be ok. Just come in when he’s in town. We have no space here in Ottawa anyway, so managers are encouraged to find exceptions so we don’t have a space problem, Crazy.

Another Cluster you what???? Back in 2020 various THs we were told that as long as you have the ok by your team leader then it was ok to work from home. There are people who left SE Michigan. Is Ford going to honor that initial agreement?

Ford is so d-mb. Do what great CEO like Elon Musk did. Return to the office of you are fired.

It worked. 👍👍

Supply Chain leader said RTO is mandatory for everyone who doesn’t already have a separate agreement to WFH or from outside of SE Michigan. If you DO have an agreement, then you are encouraged to reconsider your agreement and eventually RTO in Dearborn.

Unfortunately they don’t care. It’s complete BS for people who live near but don’t have a need to come u to the office. It’s punitive.
