Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Hope all affected yesterday get back on their feet soon

So sorry for all of you, guys, who were affected yesterday. Layoffs were apparently across the board. Times are tough, it’s not easy to find a new job, and losing it in this economy is really bad. Most of us have savings for a couple of months, and that’s all. I hope you all get back on your feet soon. For the rest of us, well, we are waiting for the next round.

Who was affected? Do we know?

WARN is based on the # of workers laid off in a single location. The way Cigna is doing it is not reaching the WARN threshold in a single location. This is the reason it's been spread out for months. I pasted the details and a link to the .gov site below.

A mass layoff (see glossary)—where your employer lays off either
between 50 and 499 full-time workers at a single site of employment
and that number is 33% of the number of full-time workers at the single site of employment; or
• A situation where your employer (see glossary) lays off 500 or more
full-time workers at a single site of employment.

If they layoff everyone at one time, they have to file with WARN with prompts all types of speculation. If they do this in smaller bat, less than 50 employees per state, they slide right under the radar. It’s sad that company morale has gone down the drain and no one knows what to expect anymore, all to put more money in the pockets who have nothing to do with getting the work done.

They're doing it in smaller batches to avoid filing a WARN notice and it keeps it out of the news to keep the stock moving. Unreal and I hope everybody affected lands on their feet soon. We all feel for you.

How many more rounds ?? It’s really tiring now. Why don’t they just layoff everyone they have to and call it a day. The uncertainty is what will force people to go now.
