Make quad actuator happen folks. Get those drawings out. Worry about all that pesky cost and margin stuff later because it would look so freaking awesome!

hubris abounds: start developing someone's brain fa-t, and then sell the idea to the customers; end up with something less after $$$$ spent. If it weren't for the decades of experience in core technologies, this industry needs a Twitter-like restructuring

The best effing part is the guy who sc--wed us all on DA is now heading the product marketing function....ready to waste a few more tens of millions....no repercussions at all!

Here's a dirty little secret. Our biggest customers would rather NOT HAVE innovation than to be forced to take it from only one supplier or pay more for it. DA isn't cheap - it increases the cost per TB. So when the guy with the TCO spreadsheet found out what we had to charge just to not lose money on DA, he said "never mind."

Dual Actuator is an example of the 'if we build it they will come' mentality that has afflicted Seagate (and WD to a lesser extent) at numerous times. Hybrid, 5mm, 10K 84mm, Active Drive and other projects all fall into that same category. The company gets enamored with some new technology, decides the customers are gonna love it and pushes ahead with development even though there's actually little indication of real customer interest. Seagate affixes a catchy name ("Mach2", "CORTX", etc.), does a splashy launch and then watches as the product (not surprisingly) fizzles out. Basically, once you have acceptable reliability and performance the HDD customers just want lowest cost per byte.

Flawless execution…do you think that’s possible by engineers who don’t even work?. I am talking Longmont

Dual actuator tech was executed flawlessly by engineering and the product was delivered as requested by PLM on time, budget, and schedule. So, who's responsible?

Why would Microsoft team up with Seagate to help them make hard drives? What's wrong with our current products (besides HAMR)?

The new amazing AI HDD. Its so smart that before it even fails prematurely, it'll pop an AI generated image of Bill Gates that says YER PH_U_KK_ED. Why did you buy this thing instead of an SSD?
