Does ExxonMobil PIP or drop down ranks badly for those on expat? I have been in top performer so far.

If you quit while on expat you have to pay back all the moving costs, tax preparation, education payments, etc. also if you quit within three years of finishing expat assignment. Same for domestic moves to places like Midland.
They close your assignment and demob you as if you are returning back to your home base. They pay for it even if you quit the company on your own while on assignment.
If an expat gets MLRP’d out, do they make you pay the cost of moving back home?
I recall hearing of an expat who was assigned in Guyana and getting MLRP'ed out of the company.
True for Guyana- with horrible schooling and cost of living adjustment on top of it. I was better off in Midland.
Premiums don't make up for anything anymore.
If you do the big picture math, it's not even financially worth it to take expats roles... and you can expect basically zero support or sympathy from the company while you're moving your entire life around.
Unless you are a Hipo and just really doing your tour, expect to go down like everyone said here.
You bet, in fact expect to go down in ranking. Premiums make up the short term drops, except if you NSI. But NSI would be a tough sell for receiving organization to swallow.
Silly question
Absolutely they can be (and have been).
Expats very often go down in the rankings during assignment.
Yes, expats can be PIP'd
