Not Much After 10 Years

Just reviewed the Voluntary Termination Info (10 Years Active Employment) and realized there is not much to the 'Retirement' offer with 10 years of service. COBRA. Some states pay for PTO balances and limited other perks. I think there was a 'Pick a gift' link. It's not really a 'Retirement' it's more like just initiating termination of employment. No more more X weeks of pay for 10 years type thing.

There is absolutely no reason to volunteer termination. Do the bare minimum and sit around waiting for a RIF. Use all your months of unemployment and severance then sign up on the Healthcare Marketplace for insurance. Depending on your income from dividends, interest, etc you may get free or a subsidy twords the monthly. COBRA here is overpriced ACA high deductible trash so there is zero reason to buy it and give this garbage can company your money. Also this company likes to rehire people a year or so after RIFs - often realizing later that they cut too much. Do yourself the biggest favor and don't ever come back.

Yep, that's why you don't go the extra yard. Know someone who is retiring and they gave her a really below average raise and bonus. And she is a performer. Tells you all you need to know about going the extra yard.

Why don't they offer early retirement riff option. I bet many would take it.

Some of the gifts are so old they are now vintage. Pretty soon you may find a few antiques that you can hock for something better.
