Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Job sites

Hey folks , specially those who were able to land a job in past 1 year . Which job sites did you use ? I am having no luck on Indeed /Glassdoor/Linked jobs. Each job seems to have 100+ applicants. Remote jobs are reducing . How were you able to successfully land an interview or even get your resume looked at ? Is there any other platform I am missing ?

Those sites are mostly useless. I applied all over the place, many for jobs I found on the sites (but then applied directly). There are just way too many people applying to jobs. Hundreds for each. I put out probably 70 applications. Got one auto text interview that ended up rejecting me. The only other response I got was from a company where one of the directors on the team that was hiring knew me from when we both worked together years ago. I didn’t ask, but I’m sure that’s the only reason I got a call back. It was a pay cut, but I took the job and got out of Cigna with my sanity. I miss the extra money, but not as much as I’m relieved to not have to deal with Cigna.

All that is to say is - hope you know somebody somewhere. Ask your network if anyone knows anyone who is hiring. Without someone making a connection for you, it’s tough sledding.

I’ve had more luck finding new jobs through my networking connections than job sites! Also if you are set on needing 100% remote it’ll make it harder, most jobs are hybrid or in office now and the few remote jobs have hundreds of random people with no connection to the company applying.

I used LinkedIn premium as well. I looked up a few recruiters (and possible department manager if able to find) from each company and sent them a message that I applied. The role I was targeting was very specific so I did not have multiple different resumes. Like other poster, job search was a full time job and I treated it as such. For 3 months, I applied to over 250 roles and landed only 16 recruiter interviews, 10 going to hiring manager and up, about 5 went to final rounds.
Though these % arent reassuring, I treated every movement/accomplishment as progress, knowing it was just a matter of time. I think it is a numbers game, so apply, apply, apply!
Make sure you apply directly to company site if you can. 2 of the roles I ended up interviewing with did not see my resume via LinkedIn submission but through their candidate portal (I sent resume on both methods).
Also, apply as soon as role opens. If job is one that gets lots of applicants, manager will only want to review set number and only looks at a handful before deciding they have a good applicant pool to choose from and does not want to see anymore resumes.

+1 for LinkedIn. Set alerts and apply within 24 hours, 12 if possible. After 24 hours it’s really hard to get a screen.

I utilized LinkedIn exclusively. I upgraded to the premium plan, which offered matching my profile to qualified roles. I was really active and treated job searching like a full time job. Once I started interviewing, it was a matter of 4 weeks before I landed my dream job with an incredible company. Some of the positions will have wait times of 2-3 weeks before the acknowledge your application. Hang in there! Life is awesome on the outside.

I’ve gotten interviews by using job sites like LinkedIn and indeed to find postings. I then applied for that job directly on the company’s website. Major sites you mentioned have been known to not pass through applications. Good luck!

It is hard to get our resume picked up by any employer if 1000 people are applying for 1 remote job. We need an AI tool that can filter out the resumes from foreign countries.
