Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

My Boss is Absurd

He always ask for things that I didn't expect to have in meeting. Gets frustrated that I didn't have them. Micromanages every aspect of my work and expects me to spoon-feed every aspect of my technical work which he really doesn't have a background in.

Yep, when there is no merit to it and they didn't follow the process. This guy is full of himself and his only concern was making director and didn't care who he had to step on to do it. Well he got what he wanted.

I was there five years with stellar reviews every year. That company went downhill fast. Good luck to anyone that is still there.

Wow, I didn’t realize people actually got PIPs overturned.. or that so many people seem to get them.

Yeah, I left just about a year ago because of a "bosshole". Was put on a PIP for no reason and I won an ER case against him on that. Did't give me a bonus or raise, opened another ER case, got half my bonus. Then puts me on a PIP again for no reason, another ER case. I left shortly after that for a great opportunity that I love. When I left, I sent an email to his boss, his boss's boss and the HRBP. I am sure nothing came of it.

Fast forward to this year looking at LinkedIn and I see he was promoted to a Director!!! How does that even happen to someone that had 3 ER cases against him, and I was not the only won.

So glad I left that company.

Unfortunately, that is exactly the set up these days. Thankfully, I was job eliminated, but in my experience, a very large percentage of the managers are not capable of doing the jobs of the people they manage. That’s why there are so many micromanagers. They need to be in every aspect of your business to cover their lack of ability. The last 2 years were horrible in my area. My manager and the director were more nervous in my one on one to inform me than I ever could’ve been. I considered myself a lottery winner that day. Good Luck to everyone still living in the trenches without a clear line of sight of how to get out.

Yes, I am in a similar situation. Management doesn’t have any technical skills or knowledge and everything would fall apart without the technical employees. Management is constantly talking about the integration of AI but doesn’t have the slightest inkling of what they’re even talking about. Management tries to integrate offshore resources but the day-to-day is far to complex and the technical debt just increases when you have to spend half your time answering questions from offshore resources. It’s all pretty absurd.
