Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Bankruptcy seems unlikely

Didn't Lumen just complete a full restructuring of their debt with creditors? How could Lumen be in distress if they just punted that debt ball out about five years? Bankruptcy seems unlikely. They'll just sell off stuff and then look for a buyer for what's left. Lumen has a lot of fiber but they just don't know how to sell it and support is horrible. It really needs to be thinking more like Carrier vs a Technology company. Lumen does not have the skillset to be a Technology company. Investors just need to go ask the company how many things it pumped money into trying to make a new Technology service and how many of those things did they fold up and toss into the trash wasting a ton of cash. The company also burned a ton of cash rebranding itself several times. Why did it need to rebrand itself so many times if the products are all exactly the same? Perhaps new colors and new fonts is to trick the markets into believing it's a new fresh company?

oh come on, GTT? haha

have give Kate credit for getting rid of them - the GTT management includes the id--t former leadership of Lumen that helped put the company in the position its in.

GTT just came out of bankruptcy at the end of 2021, what makes you think they could swing the financing to buy another distressed telecom?

try harder, mr fiction writer.

Doesnt Kate say we're a "technology company"? So what are we going to do with a Telcom? Telcom is a dirty word in this place.

Most of GTT's senior leadership came from Lumen.

GTT came out of bankruptcy in late 2021. Their Wikipedia entry is interesting.

"Lumen will be filing Chapter 11 in the next quarter."

What is your source?

Why wouldn't pushing out the debt delay this action?

C'mon JG
"Kate seems to be most interested in black lotus labs"

Why is KJ most interested in this item? Probably because black lotus labs has already cost the company many millions and has not brought in a dime. KJ has to somehow figure a way to monetize the service and get a break even ROI in 5yrs. That will be hard to do. Another option is for KJ to hype the product and try and flood the PRNewswire with stories of discovering old botware activity and then find a buyer for it. Which do you think is the easier thing to do given the financial struggles Lumen has?

Bankruptcy does seem unlikely with the current funding.

However, so does long term success outside of parting this thing out till its small enough to walk away from or sell to the final shark ... and doing layoffs to keep the thing afloat from quarter to quarter as needed.

The ice starts getting thin if they sell off mass markets and quantum.

Kate seems to be most interested in black lotus labs. Perhaps the only technology area of the company, but I've never met a single person working in this area before.

The people who spread false rumors want to see Lumen to fail.
Lumen will not file for bankruptcy as long as they have plenty of employees to layoff.
