Work at home exceptions

Since they want RTO they need to truly ensure these exceptions are truly valid. People are making up every excuse to have a doctor sign off. I hope they stop them.

for all the folks claiming that somehow all these WFH exceptions are legit medical conditions -- how the he-l did they operate pre-COVID when WFH was near non-existent??

Careful, careful, sounds like the OP may be a certain ED HR from Shared Services that need to see "boots on the ground" to believe people are actually working. You might want to check with Legal. If they are able to do the job remotely based on whatever their medically certified condition is AND USAA can reasonably accommodate them undue hardship to the business you are playing with on a slippery slope trying to target them. Whatever happened to minding your own business? If YOU want and need to be in the office do that. Everyone doesn't love it and not everyone functions well in it. If someone has gotten a medical sign-off from a healthcare provider that WFH is best for them and their situation, it is inadvisable for someone who is not a licensed practitioner to play at second-guessing them.

Going into the office litteraly ruined USAA for me. At least at home I didn’t actually know leaders were ignoring me. In the office it’s right in front of your face. Leaders doing everything but their jobs. Then to top it off you see the attitudes all over their face when approach them.

Think a problem is EMG serving themselves first with sub par performance. Meanwhile everyone else gets cuts and fake PIPs

If you were hired remote & then moved to hybrid, that was NOT recruiting’s doing. That’s WP on a power trip. WP has another year or so left, he’s gotta trim the bank by a couple K people before he rides off into the sunset!

"listen to what I say, not as I do". Most of EMG and a good portion of regular leadership is remote despite the toxic push for in office mandates. Even a good portion of the people that seemed to enjoy being in office, dislike it now. Bad leaders like it when the rank and file employees point fingers at each other instead of keeping the focus on the actual EMG leaders that create and enable the comedic return to office.

When I applied to USAA 3 years ago in 2021 I had already been in a WFH job for 5 years. Coming into USAA I was promised it was remote, not hybrid. That was a recruiting lie. I actually have a disability and sent in an accommodation letter to HR after I was hired because companies WILL hold it against you at hiring and didn’t want to cause a rift before I was in the door. USAA shuffled their feet for almost a year until they approved accommodations. HR had the audacity to ask my manager if remote was okay after I sent in letters from my doctor and specialist. We had about a dozen people on my team already remote too. I brought up to HR that I was going to get the ACLU involved and they did not understand what that was.

I don’t think they understand ADA enough nor are smart enough to challenge anyone.

I’d be embarrassed for and deeply frustrated with my manager if he thought he knew my medical conditions better than the doctor treating me knows them.

A medical doctor would not sign off on a bogus medical condition without forfeiting his/her ethics and medical licensing! If an employee has gone through multiples levels of approval to warrant that exception based on medical evidence they deserve to WFH! I know lots of them who would love to be in the office for the interaction but are disabled and still need to work in isolation to make a living. Pause and consider.

People like these make other people life difficult due to stringent RTO policies. If you are alone have miserable life and want to be in Office so that good part of your time go well but that's not true for all. If the performance are up to the level then people should be allowed to work from home so that they can take of love ones
