Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Do student-grad programs have more of a buffer for performance reviews?

Hi, been at capital one almost a year now and about to have my first real/non too new review in June. I am in one of the student grad programs and am nervous after reading everything on here despite getting only good verbal feedback from managers. My question is, if you’re in a two year program at C1, are they more likely to let that group finish it? Or is the requirement of 10-15% below strong also for those programs…. Thanks and appreciate any insight. Don’t have any friends at the company as I’m too scared to trust anyone tbh.

You're compared to others at the same level, so 8-15% of your TDP class will get below strong. It's more likely for new grads to get Coaching Plan instead of PIP, but yes there have been TDPs who got PIP on their 1 year work anniversary. Don't worry though, just look at the other TDPs in your org right now and mentally compare your results and competencies against theirs. There's still enough time to work on more accomplishments and having that self-awareness is good.

Technology Development Progran associates have already posted in this forum. They are struggling to survive the harshness of stack rankings and getting the Sam Hill out of here.

Don't get discouraged. I was in your shoes a while ago in auto. Previous response was right that PIP % stands for all. Honestly, I'm not sure how this company can get away with it. But, I recommend using this job as a stepping stone and get out of there as soon as you can. After leaving is only when I really realized what a toxic environment I was in.

Unfortunately the percentages apply at all levels. It’s easier to promote TDPs. But even associate level has forced percentages for each rating.
Sh!tty, right? Have a high bar for recruiting and then PIP 5-15% annually.
