I’ve been on a final cap and they keep pushing it longer—it feels like they will never terminate me but my mental health is deteriorating and I can’t flat out quit.
Will they ever fire me from this cap?

Are you in claims?
In many states they do not pay unemployment for work misconduct or low performance. The company will respond with paperwork that supported the termination. As long as you know your state laws, you maybe ok.
I think you do get unemployment if you are fired. So file for it, don’t quit. If you quit you for sure don’t get unemployment.
If you can't quit, which I'm not sure why. Just stop working. Log in and do nothing. They will fire you. They only extended your CAP because they saw improvement. They were trying to save your job, but you don't want to be saved. Not sure what state you're in, but if you leave, they won't pay unemployment. If they term you, they still won't pay unemployment.
