It's sad what Chevron has turned into

Working hard used to mean something here. Knowing how to do your job well used to mean something. Having experience used to mean something. Today, if you are not part of one of the cliques (mostly consisting of a-s-kissers and yes-men), you can forget about any career progression.

This ranks so true. The only desirable positions are where there is exposure to the high visibility projects, the HiPot Leaders and Management, the ability kiss and brown-nose your way to the top. Field and base operations is viewed as the sc-m of the earth and paid/compensated to those same feelings...yet its the Leadership who wonders why no one wants to go back to the field or a technical role. Lets pull back the layers of true issues and have those discussions, but yet, no one wants to hear the truth...since the truth would fully breakdown the fact that technical skills do not matter. Failing upward is a real thing across numerous companies, not just this one.

In the relentless churn of corporate dynamics, there lurks a shadow—a dark triad, to be exact—wreaking havoc under the guise of authority. This insidious force, led by RM, persists in its destructive path unabated, even as it garners undeserved commendations.

CVX, once a stalwart in its domain, now finds itself adrift, its essence diluted by the encroachment of this cabal—comprising HR, Security, and Legal. What was once a beacon of industry has now become a playground for the nefarious machinations of these individuals, each embodying the worst traits of their leader.

HR, a bastion of incompetence disguised as progress, teems with RM's ilk—individuals whose sole purpose seems to be perpetuating their own perceived importance. Yet, when their façade crumbles, they unleash their hounds of surveillance (AKA security) and intimidation, bolstered by a legion of morally bankrupt lawyers (AKA legal), all in a bid to shield themselves from accountability.

But what do they produce? What value do they bring? The resounding answer echoes through the empty halls of CVX: none. They resemble nothing more than a failed state, ruled by fear and manipulation—a dictatorship masquerading as governance.

CVX, once deemed too big to falter, now teeters on the precipice of irrelevance. The erosion of its foundations is palpable, each day inching closer to the abyss of failure.

It is imperative, then, that RM be swiftly removed from their perch of power. The future of CVX depends on it.

I’ve never seen a company where actual skill is less valued. It’s stunning really. The BUs desperately need technical skills, and it could not be valued less. Explains a lot tho!

Wrong! The only people getting ahead are white women. It was first white men; now it is time to progress white women in the name of DEI. Blacks are only the talking points.
DEI started with colored people; somehow, white women completely stole this, and now, it is all about breaking the glass ceiling for white women. They have been trotting along fine with the white male, enjoying the same privileges and living the good life. Now, they have completely taken over the DEI! In contrast, there is nothing to advance the blacks, Hispanics, and Asians. These are the colored DEI groups just to cheer and watch. The current form of DEI should be gutted.

Cliques Funny what your definition is. You said (a-s-kissers and yes-men).

Maybe guys who a-s-kiss their lover at night while Watching Broke Back Mountain.

As for yes-men you must mean a female who identifies as a man so they can be yes-men.

The only groups getting ahead are Black Americans (yes that’s correct Angolans and Nigerians are excluded) and Asian and whites are out. Females (including white women) must be decently smart but can’t push back.
