My team is quarterly, but we are technically in the “virtual” category. Those within the 50 miles are required to go in at least quarterly per the VP over our dept. It’s nowhere in the official hybrid category, but is considered part of that “manager discretion” thing apparently.
It’s a joke, nothing is consistent across the board. Managers and upper leadership have provided some folks with waivers and let others within 50 miles stay virtual. Seems like several folks are only quarterly but I didn’t see that in the hybrid model. Other folks work one week a month to satisfy the requirements (not in hybrid model). It’s a waste of time to travel in to work. I mean folks are literally sitting in the office on team’s calls, scrolling the cell phone and walking around doing nothing. No one is collaborating. Folks are on edge and upset with the layoff pressure. Anyone know when this will be revisited? I think they are waiting on folks to quit as a voluntary RIF (no severance). No one is friendly in the office and I get it…. I’m upset I have to lug my laptop in the office to do EXACTLY what I do at home. Also I’m sure the majority are more productive at home.
@6hcn+1rI8McJh wasn't Gallina the one bragging during a town hall that Elevance generates 18-19 million an hour in revenue during a quarterly town hall? They started laying people off not much later. Fu-k them all. A bunch of greedy fu-kn cu-ts.
Several strings here but regarding remote. I was hired as 100% remote 8 + years ago. My team is in another state entirely but now I am off to the office once a week again. Is it terrible ? No but is conducive to improved productivity? I truly believe this ridiculous and utterly archaic work model can be laid at the feet of John G and Gloria McCarthy both of who should be told their over priced and outdated ideas are no longer needed and send Gail with them. I do believe it is also a means to reduce the US work force and move our model more in line with oversea models. I am actively seeking other work but for now I will be a semi good minion and get my swipe.

I keep seeing announcements coming from pharma side. A couple of weeks ago they let go two senior leaders then just this week two more appear to have resigned. Do not know if related to the mail issue but the people I work with over there have little confidence as leadership continues to change. thikning May is the next round. I guess it will be up to medical to cover for them again.
The remote thing is weird and rando. 3 new hires this quarter that I know abbout are all 100% remote and in different states, so it's tenure, or age or other cost related stuff that gets riffed. Just a guess. Oh and the new hires, under 30.... Cheaper perhaps?
@4pju+1rI8McJh just curious, have you always been fifty miles from work ? We're you hired as such , Remote? I feel for people in this predicament.h. hope everything works out for you
I know for a fact that nothing is certain with the hybrid model. Some of us who are approved to work 100% remote who live outside of the 50 miles of a building is still not confirmed that we remain approved. Every big virtual meeting it is asked if we can remain virtual. Leadership does not want to confirm or deny that will remain approved and may require the 1 day a week. I guess we would be forced to relocate? Are they hoping we quit? I question if they are just waiting to drop the hammer. Stressful!
What updated hybrid policy?
Could it be regarding the updated hybrid policy?
Says someone who has no knowledge of anything happening. Please be respectful of people who use this board for real information.
Every other Thursday is a layoff/RIF. Nothing new here.
Please share what departments. For example, Government Business, Commercial, what state.
Which team ?
@1yts+1rI8McJh can you share what area of the company? Also so sorry :(
Expect notifications next week (4/4) with a last working day of May 3rd.
My team was hit with another 10% reduction this round.
@blb+1rI8McJh individual contributor, how I know it , and from what I have experienced is a manager stepping aside their peeps get moved to a director. The manager who is now an individual contributor no longer has people reporting to them, get the blood su-ked out of them and then the carpet pulled out from from underneath them. And Viola there you have it.
@mej+1rI8McJh what does individual contributor mean? Someone had previously mentioned that enterprise level people were save.
From another earlier post, someone stated health plans and individual contributors to be impacted soon. Does anyone have dates and more details?
Within the next couple of weeks. Don't know scope of impacted units yet. CSBD likely. Promise, not fear mongering.
How soon? What lines of business? At least provide some definitive details, so we know this is possibly true information, or else it’s just rumor mongering.
