Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

FCC should read

FCC should look into lumen, I bet they would be surprised to see all the things they are surprising. We have not seen tickets in a while, but we get a lot of customers reporting no service. If this is happening here in AZ hate to see the rest

That looks odd to me as well. I understand having no new installs, but lacking any trouble tickets as well at the field looks unnatural

I’m the us west guy. Who are you? A podunk century tel guy? Yea, we didn’t give a fu-k. That’s why we were on unlimited forced overtime in the mid to late 90s. Yep, 10-12 hour days 7 days a week for 21 straight. We got the 22nd day off then started over again. Went on for a couple years. Just to place new cable so a sales rep could get their monthly numbers and bonus. But yea, we didn’t give a sh-t about the customers. Sorry to all those reps who chewed their fingernails off or got some bad paper cuts. We should have been working more hours to serve you.

There’s no such thing as a legacy Q manager anymore. Anyone who knew what a sc--wdriver was is gone. When level 3 executives took over the people who knew anything about running a telco left or were pushed out. US West stock was 98.00 a share when Qwest and those crooks nachio and anshitz took over and it’s been downhill ever since. Culminating in dare to lead, fireside chats, culture club and a North Star. Yea, look up and follow that North Star while you step off a cliff.

We have been told in Northwest Montana that customers are not important.

Who is this guy defending US West 😅
Old management perhaps 🤣
I remember how mad the customers were back in the 90's.
The customers finally have choices.

I was hired about the time uswest sold to PTI. I remember the plant being so bad that several contractors came in and started at one end of the cable and totally rehabbed everything! Customers defiantly weren't used to their troubles being dealt with in a couple days vs weeks with US West. The thing I haven't figured out yet is go back and look at the stock prices when C link BOUGHT qwest! Why didn't they keep c link management? I get a kick out of leg Q managers , techs always saying" well this is how we do it! They have all been programmed to not give a fu-k!

As to why customers would hang on during held orders or out of service, there was no other option then. No cell service, no clecs, no alternatives. We'd issue billing credits or on held orders, didn't start billing. Customers didn't charged for the no service period and it was cheaper for us to forgo their revenue despite our service obligation.

The CTL writer is correct. The sold off USW exchanges in 1997 to PTI were in sorry shape. USW diverted money from the former PNB to their MediaOne scheme and to the major MB/NWB markets. If you were in Phoenix or Denver, life was good and capital dollars flowed like wine. Not so much elsewhere.

We did have grandfathered party lines in the 90's. And customers out of service for months or longer and flat out didn't care until the PUC stepped in repeatedly. Even Nacchio was appalled at the prevalent USW attitude towards delayed service.

Customers dont lie? Why would they keep service for years that didnt work? And who's "us"? By your logic, us west, qwest, centurylink, embarq, and lumen are all the same. Correct? I worked for US West before it became Qwest. We we placing new cable daily and constantly behind when people wanted 3, 4 or 5 lines in their houses. You probably didnt have that issue at century tel and its 3500 customers. There were no party lines in the mid 90s. Not in major cities. Maybe at Century Tel. And 10 years behind? USwest was placing fiber fed dslams while Century Tel was still using T1 fed adsl. Oh wait, those t1 dslams were a few years away yet. Youre funny. Keep telling us how advanced louisiana was in the telecom world.

US West and Qwest are the same people.
As an Rboc, they neglected their plant whether they were fined by the PUC or UTC.
When CenturyTel bought out old US West territories. The customers were 10 years behind with the rest of the market. Party lines were still in use during the mid 1990's.
CenturyTel brought back the analog cm8, anaconda, and s6b back from the decommissioned state.
The customers were telling us the US West techs wouldn't fix their lines for weeks or even years
Customers don't lie.
US West sure do.

“Qwest has been that way for 30 years.
People were left OOS for weeks. Even years if they were static or crossed lines.
Lumen didn't make it worse for the customers. The practice was just adopted”

Qwest wasn’t an ilec 30 years ago. Until the level 3 management took over, each state was held accountable by local puc’s. 24 and 48 hour clocks. Fined for missing the commits. Level 3 decided they would rather pay the fines than hire employees or put money into the plant. Your post is completely false.

FCC doesn't do squat for individual service issues. State PSC or PUC is the only one who cares. If your state is still regulated.

In Wash St. and Oregon It’s common for people to be out a week or more at times.
Multiple times we’ve been told not fix certain copper issues because of the time and money involved. Be proud Kate. That’s how this company works now. The tanking is totally obvious.
