Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

D9 bargaining and work stoppage is imminent!

Latest Union D9 bargaining update, excerpt:

“ the company pointed out that four years ago today, we reached a tentative agreement over seventeen days before expiration. Given the current pace and the multitude of outstanding items on the table, it is highly unlikely that we will reach an agreement before expiration. Please ensure that all necessary preparations are made by yourself and your Local.”

Translation; Get ready for work stoppages so download and fill out your relief fund form then hand in to your Local officers. Despite company trolls best efforts to gaslight about a sale or total lockouts which, is laughable, stoppages are about to happen (reality). Tomorrow the existing contract will be down to 15 days before expiration and the company continues to bargain in bad faith so, be prepared CP and bargained.

The current and former Presidents, Biden & Trump will be visiting a town near you, soon. Hmm, I wonder who they will be advocating for this time?

A. The minority elite and their outsized compensation packages, who continue to outsource, rebadge, off-shore and layoff employees?

B. Good paying, skilled union jobs, that support families and the local/national economies here in the USA?

You mentioned SE contract, isn’t their’s up this year? 2 possible work stoppages in the same year, wow the managers on CP are going to like getting 2 vacations. I’m good being out 6 months, finally catch up on my honey do list. My co-workers are ready for a break too, we’ve been saving and talking about it for a while. Unfortunate it’s come to this but here we are.

Management was giggling during the 2019 SE contract negotiations too, until it happened. They couldn’t rush a new labor team in fast enough. Many other companies managers were giggling at workers the last two years too, until work stoppages happened. Auto, Freight, Shipping, School Teachers, Kaiser medical, Actors, Writers, etc… the list goes on and on.

Workers are fed up with regressive policies, elimination of benefits, higher medical cost, low raises, larger scope of work for the same pay due to layoffs while, the elite and corporations are doing better than ever, it’s called Greed!

“ I know 27 million for a CEO and slightly smaller packages for the executive suite doesn’t seem fair or enough, they can barely make it”

Yeah makes about as much sense as paying union employees wages when you can hire more qualified for half the cost.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and pick B. Was a hard decision but keeping money, taxes local and US workers employed seemed to tilt it towards keeping jobs in-country.

I know 27 million for a CEO and slightly smaller packages for the executive suite doesn’t seem fair or enough, they can barely make it. Even the former CEO Randall, had to come back as a consultant for 1 million a year because he was struggling on his $275k monthly pension. It’s why so many employees are getting laid off, to help support the pay to retain the top talent.
