Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

New rules

Maybe our team had more lenient supervisors in the past or the one we have now is so stuck up in her a$$.
Forcing us to use PTO for something we can make up the same day or same week is wild to me?
Also said leader wants everyone to start and finish at the SAME TIME.
Talk about flexibility and caring about your teammates.
I hate it here.

Sounds like an hourly role. Not entirety uncommon.

You can F right off calling me a liar. I worked for CA LOB when I moved to FL and they absolutely expected me to work PST hours - 11am - 7:30pm and I had to get legal involved.

It sounds like this people leader is new to the company and is perhaps carrying over rules from their last employer. Centene does not have any formal training for supervisors or managers so it’s just a “whatever I say goes” mentality. Just another example of a very poorly run company.

I worked on just about every State over more than a decade, and not once did I have to regularly work a different time zone's hours. Once or so when there was a meeting, but never on a daily basis. That is a crock.

Only way this would be true you is if you’re lying saying you live in CA and actually live elsewhere. Otherwise you shouldn’t be having to start at that time since the start times are the same times in your local time zone meaning a person in CA or in FL can start at 8a local in their own time zone.

NEVER EVER CALL HR They are NOT there for the employee, they are only there to keep your company safe from lawsuits. Read your policy and call an employment attorney to get REAL answers.

Depends on the role and the team. I mean this with all respect to the role, but there are some lower level positions that are often hourly that tend to operate this way.

The more senior the role the more flexibility. Hard to say why a people leader would otherwise be like this unless they are super new to managing people.

Call up HR. I can tell you that employees have gone to HR in our department for flex schedule issues and the PLs have had to accommodate.

This is rude. If you hate it that much, why don't you just resign? Sheesh.

What happened to all that jazz about "flexible schedules" and exactly how is that supposed to happen with people in multiple time zones? I am not starting my day at 11:30 am to get off at 7:30 at night just to keep up with CA LOB. Nah F that - my day starts the same as everyone else's. The family first - we care about your mental health - work/life balance is nothing but a load of DEI BS

I agree that the rules need to be enforced equally across all teams and depts. My immediate family member was air lifted after suffering a serious medical event and I received attendence points for taking time off but my sibling on a different team did not. Either the rules apply to everyone or no one. They also need to come up with an emergency leave policy.
