If Anthem/Elevance wants to continue pushing the ridiculous Hybrid Work Model to please real estate investors - take you skills and talent to companies that will honor remote work promises. There is no need for anyone to go into an office other than to line the pockets of real estate investors or to appease micro managers. The employees spoke in the annual survey and they did NOT listen - they are doubling down. Employees continue to voice frustrations and they are doubling down. They DO NOT care about the financial burden or loss of work life balance it creates on you. Here are some sites: Flexjobs, Remote.co, Justremote, Virtual Vocations, Pangian, We Work Remotely, Remotive, Skip the Drive, Remote OK, Working Nomads, Jobspresso (this isn't even the full list - just go Google)! Good luck - I know others that have had much luck and success finding new jobs with these companies.

Forcing you back in the office is a pay cut. Your driving more so your insurance will go up because of added mileage. You'll also be spending more money on fuel. You'll also be paying more for car maintenance. Or maybe you don't have a daily driver anymore. Now you'll need to buy a car to get to work for a company that may RIF you on a non-pay Thursday. Even 1 day a week. It's a way to force people to quit so it's cheaper for them. Gail is heartless. This entire company is heartless. Even if you love your job and your manager, they have very little control over what happens to you. You're just a nameless number in a game that ends with higher stock prices because of revenue.
Back to office orders are just the rich trying to prop up the commercial real estate market, so they don't take a hit on their own investments. If they had made up the expense for those workers hired 100% remote for now having to go into the office, that's one thing. But the corporations did not, effectively forcing those employees into a reduction in pay. And with inflation continuing, that is just wrong!!! Forcing the average worker to take a cut in pay while the rich continue to get richer off of our backs.
They hybrid model is Gail's idea. In her first week she ordered all the Admins back into the office or be fired. She doesn't like work from home (being a Boomer she doesn't get it), but I don't think she can order us all in 100% of the time. During our townhall this week we were basically told that its 'Gail's Baby' and our leaders cannot do anything about it so stop complaining. Maybe she will retire. I wonder how much money she has burned with remodeling all the offices. Anyone have any idea?
Don't give up looking for 100% remote jobs. They are out there. I receive call backs on two full time 100 percent remote positions last week. Keep your eyes and ears open....!!!
50 miles is ridiculous. A lot of companies put this bare min mileage. Long time ago I took a job that was 2 hours in traffic each way and took a $20k salary cut because i had bills to pay. I was out of work for a year. Brand new car had 80k miles on it on a year. So much time and money wasted in my life. But these 50 miles is stupid. They cast a wide net because anything reasonable would mean less applicants. Its bs.
The TN HP is out of control being “led” by aggressive, junior leaders that think they can cut staff and bully those left into doing the job. There is no leadership just threats and fear as they eliminate people and shift work to those that remain. It is a hostile environment and WFH is only thing keeping some trying to make this work. It had not always been this way. The last 2 years and particularly the last year have been a decline into something frankly embarrassing to be associated with. The RVP, compliance and the President are grossly disconnected from reality and offer only pressure not solutions for staffing issues and broken processes. RIF would just put many out of misery at this point. They have a hiring freeze on essential positions while staffing fluff positions with limited focus and responsibility with big titles and checks. The doers and midmgmt are not valued or supported. The pres is inappropriate and doesn’t even know who does what so she blasts the wrong teams and ppl. It’s a big joke. Resignations on rise of long term employees and they eliminated key employees and didn’t account for work they were doing so it isn’t getting done. If you are a brown noser, this might be place for you- but if you are skilled, ethical and crave processes that work , support adequate training — r U n
Has anyone been told by management that they are not 100% compliant in meeting the Hybrid model yet?
Gail has always wanted people in the office from day 1. I had a friend who was a VP and he was hired as work from home, pre-Covid (2019). Gail met with the SVP’s and mandated all VP and above be in the office, even if not one person in the VP’s organization was in that office. This was a phased plan. Director level was to be next, followed by manager. My friend quit his job right before Covid put the brakes on this foolish plan. He found an even better one after his boss said his hands were tied and what Gail wants, Gail gets. He was going to have to drive 48 miles each way to sit in an office where NO ONE below him worked and no business partners worked. For this type of business decision, Gail earns tens of millions of dollars. 🤦♀️
All the CEO's got together and created this evil plan.

There are still remote positions at companies that will treat you like a human being instead of an expense they want to get rid of without providing supplemental pay.
Prior to Joe Swedish there were opportunities for WFH at this company. That continued into his reign. At some point during Joe's reign he said people need to get back into the office and pushing for that to happen. To me it is not surprising that there is a push on, again.
