Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Stop moaning

Everyone, get a grip. It is not the end of the world. Plus many of you had a pretty good ride in the past 15y of money printing. Imagine how people like us felt, having proper top-class degrees / PhDs, experience, IQ > 140, having to listen how for instance HR folks are getting as much money as us - not nice. Accept that the standard of life that was given to you in the past 15y was an aberration and will not return. You will be getting less money as you should. And if you are really that good - no need to worry, you will find another place.

Why does this same person answer every comment and rant about the same bs? You’re just cluttering the thread with negative, fear mongering, hate. It’s boring. Just a troll trolling.

Post ID: @4cjv+1rDS7JCw If Citi isn't an exception, why is Citi in the Sh!th0le it's found itself now ! Low caliber employees and low professionalism is more prevalent and BAU in Citi compared to its competitors and Not just in banking.

Post ID: @4cjv+1rDS7JCw Citi is an exception because as the OP and other Posters have stated in this entire Site, Not just this thread, Citi has an inordinate number of low caliber employees compared to its competitors. Citi can only attract the mediocre at best employees.

Each bad company also has high caliber employees and each good company also has low caliber employees.

Not all high caliber employees keep changing companies just because they are high caliber and not all companies regularly terminate their low caliber employees just because they are low caliber.

Citi isn’t an exception.

Citi is where you go to end your career and die. If you’re young don’t even bother unless you really need the job. Come back when you’re older and looking to relax and not learn anything new or of value. I hate this place more and more everyday. I'm just waiting to either get the boot or until something better comes along. I REGRET leaving my last company for this place by Anonymous Post ID: @1mnq+1rr5Aruq by Anonymous Post ID: @Zpfm+1qvwCb1l

Post ID: @1txo+1rDS7JCw Exactly. Citi considers these Braindead DvmbA$$ES amongst their best and brightest. Legacy DART has an D0LT SVP, I believe recently promoted to Director who regularly shows of his "skills" including but not limited to in a mass email to over 200 people of well over 100+ IF THEN Statements. ROTFLMFAO ! This is the best of his coding "skills". This is Not even Coding or Computer Science 101. There are 12 year olds who can code better. The D0LT obviously is Not aware of or is Unable to write Loops (Do, For, etc.) and arrays. ROTFLMFAO! After the 10th IF THEN Statement, I stopped reading his email. But yet, Legacy DART and by extension Citi considers him to be a "genius" and one of their best employees. LOL! What's worse and equally frightening is that he's has direct reports and is a people "manager". Just like the other Legacy DART employees, he thinks he's Hot Sh!t and is narcissistic. You're correct. These Citi b0zos would Not survive past their 3 month probationary period in real banks like GS, BofA, Morgan Stanley, JPMorganChase, etc.. LOL !

Post ID: @OP+1rvRHs64 Citi can NOT afford to hire away Jamie Dimon or anyone of his caliber. Citi would need to pay DImon at least 3 times what he's getting now in base salary and bonus. Citi can Only attract and get mediocre at best DVMBA$$E$ who are the Dregs of or from JPMC, Goldman, BofA, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, etc.. Some recent new hires include Viswas (“Vis”) Raghavan from JPMC who was ostracized and marginalized at JPMC and could NOT get promoted. One Employer's Trash is another Employer's (Citi's) Treasure. ROTFLMFAO !!! CFO Mark Mason also hired away another Rej3ct from JPMC recently. by Anonymous Post ID: @3cof+1rvRHs64

Post ID: @jkm+1rDS7JCw It's also who's a political favourite and knows they can get away with Sh!t. Legacy DART has so many Brain-Dead DVMB as SH!T Id!ots. But since they're Legacy and political favourites they have Not been RIFed even though they should have been Flat Out FIRED years ago !!! And then there are others in DART who may or may not be Legacy but are either Lazy or simply refuse to do to any work. They know they can get away with all this SH!TSHOW ! Yet, Citi and Risk Management Still Wonder why Citi is in a SH!TH0LE !!! Some examples of why they're Brain-Dead DVMB Id!ots: Lack of basic reading comprehension skills and being observant. There are 8th Graders with better reading comprehension skills than these "Geniuses". Citi would not only save a ton of money, but also get Real Employees with skills by hiring 8th Graders And FIRING these DVMB Id!ots who are simply Dead Weight for Citi, other Employees and Shareholders! The same should be done with the Lazy Dead-Weight and those who Refuse to do any work, but want to Take Credit for the Groups' successes. Sh!tibank aka Citibank is like a Straw House put together with Elmer's Glue (used in Kindergarten), Gum, Saliva and Paperclips. JPMorgan Chase, GS and other successful financial institutions will Blow CitiStraw House Down ! LOL !

See Rodney Dangerfield vs. the economics professor in 'Back to School' if you want a good explanation of why a financial institution might find advanced degrees irrelevant. It really isn't brain surgery or rocket science, people!

You may have an IQ over 140 but your people skills is what’s keeping you from ever getting ahead I’ll bet it really eats you up that I got a years severance and I’m living the highlife with an early retirement and plenty of money in my savings and 401(k). You are a bitter troll.

Well that's the caveat anyone who has done their rounds within finance knows citi always lays off and wouldnt even be a company in its current state if not for the bailouts in 2008. With the new CEO and their DEI initiatives over profits, this was inevaitable.

@dsn+1rDS7JCw - I was offered more money. Also, I had the opportunity to do what I want and to have growth opportunities. Or at least I thought I had at the time I joined .

OP here - I have worked at other top financial institutions. There are smart people everywhere, even at Citi. The problem is general - not only Citi - I am talking about the wider economy. Money printing enabled many people with questionable skills to manage to live really well. Including some folks at Citi. Tbh, I met more d-mb people at Citi then any other top institution that I have ever been to. So Citi has a problem and the problem is that it pays really well but hires mo--ns. Hence the performance and the playoffs. Why do you think JP and GS do better than Citi - because they did not power their hiring standards after 2008 which Citi has to do to attract people after it almost went bust.

I agree in part that citi pays better than other firms for the talent pool they have. Look at all the mo--ns at the VP and SVP level that are complete and utter mo--ns and wouldnt last 5 minutes at another bank.
