Long story short.....

Im <5 yoe with XOM upstream and im sick and fu-kng tired of this toxic a-s workplace. Operators are treated like demigods around here and management loves to give them blow-jobs whenever and wherever possible, but when it comes time to support staff engineers..."Well noooo we cant do this or do thatttt...Operators own the fcking company dont you get it...now go back to your cubicle and crank our equipment datasheets"

Operators in this company are also very fcking toxic and have massive a-s fckiiing ego shoved right the fck up their asseeesss.

Supervisors are too fcking busy doing shiny "pet-projects" so they can advance their own careers .......

certain people are chosen and given massive opportunities to shine before senior management.....whereas the rest of us with equal ambitions are left behind pulling the weight.....fck this place never worked for a more toxic assssss company

XOM is toxic. SVPs and higher all want their a** kissed. It’s all about who you know, how well known you are and how good of an a** kisser you are. Executives get what ever the he-l they want and don’t care about who they hurt while in the process. You should hear the things that come out of their mouths when a meeting is over. The most beloved SVPs are the fakest out there. They smile in meetings then will call the presenter an id--t after the meeting. Get out while you can. You have XOM on your resume, another company will hire you.

Upstream vs downstream/chem, I'd go for DS. I've cycled through all these streams and Upstream is the worst of them all. That was my last there.

XOM is pure garbage

Thought ExxonMobil engineers were project managers. Only engineers that I remember tactually engineering were Mobil field engineers - they built stuff etc.
