Others have said that this follows you everywhere in the company and you won't be eligible for any promotions for a few years even if you pass the PIP. Others have also said that getting PIP also makes it very likely you'll be let go in the future. What are the other known and unspoken effects of being PIP'd at EM?

If you are PIPed, you are better off finding a new job unless you are really close to retirement. Regardless of what HR paperwork says, you salary is going to be stagnant for the rest of your career. If you have skills to go somewhere else, walk away...better yet...take the PIL and walk away.
If your team has an offshore counterpart and you realized that there's a bunch of you in the US team who were put on PIP, your department is aggressively reducing US headcount. Try to move to a different group immediately.
There should be punishment for any supervisor that throws an employee wrongfully under the PIP.
I have seen a Supervisor purposely lie to put someone on PIP. It was so blatant that I think was told by a Manager to do it.
The worst depends in your age, but at the the worst for you.
It’s worth also looking at others in your ranking group. If no one stands out as being your replacement patsy then when the supervisor needs to find 5% - 10%NSI then you are the easy choice for them to put back in at that level. It’s a shame but that is the reality. Easier to give you bad news as you’re already down rather than having to give someone else the bad news. Been there and seen it.
If you pass it follows you for 3 years and it appears on your supervisors career connect on you. So 3 years of having to explain what happened if your boss rotates.
Every. Single person that I know that was PIPd passed it and most are still with the company. Can't say how it has affected their promotions though
I know a CX person. Pipd but in the last so many years. Got EXT last year. There maybe a grace period when it comes to HR but there are so many shell games going on here. It’s all about your boss. Our boss you have to make him feel empowered and ask for the help or make your self vulnerable. Others don’t care at all. Others know the boundaries and are fair to their employees. HR is the beat cop turning a blind eye.
NSI 3 out of 5 year window and you are a gone pecan.
Immediate impact is zero raise. Hard to break out as it is easier for supervisor to keep you NSI than to move you out and put someone else there. Why demoralize two people? NSI means you are seen as the easiest person in the group to see leave.
All based on your age, for REs, you have to go when got nsi. For NRE, they can't do no harm, just stick it out to 55. For 48-51,try to go through pip and gamble if you can make it to 52. For 47 and younger, it's up you. I would try to find another job
