Laid off as the only one in my Android team, despite being a high performer, second only to the lead. Received regular praise from the lead and solved complex problems, while my peers contributed less. Rumors suggest my higher salary and non-priority vendor status were factors. It's a harsh reminder that life isn't always fair. Can anyone relate?

If you are contractor, you have to expect things like this. One company terminated all our contracts month early and laid off their regular employees as well during the financial crisis. Guess who didn't return their calls when the economy turned around? And guess who decided to charge triple to said company when they did get hold of me finally?
Moral - don't contract with a company that stiffed you again. This wasn't Citi BTW.
Sorry to hear you were laid off. Tbh, sometimes you do not know what your peer are contributing as it is not always widely shared at least on my team. If you are a contractor then it isn't a layoff as much as a contract ending. It can still be shocking if it was unexpected. Good luck on your next opportunity.
The OP sounds like they are a Contractor. If Contractor, you're Not and Never Laidoff from Citigroup/Citibank. The rule of thumb to ask is, "What is the Employer-Company Name on your Paycheck??" Is it ABC Temp/Employment Agency or Citigroup/Citibank ? If the former, then that is who your Employer is, Not Citigroup/Citibank.
what complex problems are there on android lol
Sorry to hear—it’s tough but you are talented and will land on your feet.
May I ask which location and C-Level?
