Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Anyone else notice this problem at Chevron/Texaco gas stations?

In the past several months, I have noticed that, when using a Chevron/Texaco gas card, several Chevron and Texaco gas stations are charging credit card prices for gas instead of the cash rate. Happened at stations in Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas. When I queried the clerks, they were adamant that a Chevron gas card is a credit card - and despite showing a lower "Cash/Chevron Card" price on their display. When I called Synchrony Bank they said it was not there issue but could not give a Chevron contact. Also - In Louisiana, one Texaco station is only showing Cash or Credit prices, no cash-equivalent for using Chevron/Texaco gas card.

I have a Chevron/Texaco Advantage Card. It’s a gas card, but also works as a credit card administered by Synchrony Bank. If you use this card at Chevron or Texaco gas stations, you will receive a price discount off each gallon of gas purchased, but not at the pump (like ExxonMobil does). The discount will be reflected instead on your Chevron statement. Now, if you use the Chevron mobile app on your phone and pay with your Chevron Advantage Gas Card, you may see a drop in the gallon price at the pump, if Chevron is running a promotion, as they’ve been doing since the start of 2024. If you have been using your “Advantage” card and think there was a problem, call the 1-800 number on the back of the card. Disclosure: I’ve never had any issues with my Chevron card since I got mine over 30 years ago. I was an employee so I get extra price discounts, even as a retiree.

Chevron station in Bakersfield California off 99 and Bear Mountain Blvd has ripped me off twice with this scam. If it’s branded Chevron they should be required to participate and yes the sign does say cash or Chevron credit card. Come in Chevron, make them comply or put them out of business, your reputation is at stake and am/pm is across the street.

We always use Costco as it is vastly cheaper. It is now $2.50 gal in Houston vs $3.00 at most Chevron stations.

I have not had that problem. I get my proper discount per gallon and it shows up correctly on my Chevron Advantage Gas credit card statement. I wouldn’t be surprised that others may have encountered problems, but my 99% of my gas fill-ups are made in the greater Houston area and stations along the Interstate 10 from Houston to Mississippi.

Guess I should clarify - the stations all showed a "Cash/Chevron (or Texaco) Card" price and a "Credit" price, with the credit price being approximately 10-15 cents/gallon more expensive. Even though I used my Chevron gas card, I was charged the higher, "Credit," price. I was told the Chevron card was a credit card despite the fact that their actions contradicted their own signage.

Yes I’ve seen the problem. We need all stations to equally participate but it may be their decision?

I've seen this a few times before. My experience has been that my monthly statement always shows the correct amounts.
