Every second article or analysis I come across is saying that the health industry is hiring like crazy. Public sense that massive layoffs are happening across the corp sector is based on fear-induced false perception and exaggerated media attention over layoffs by high profile tech companies. Am I nuts for not seeing this rosy picture? I am hearing only about layoffs, not only in the health industry, and the general economic uncertainty. My family, social circle and colleagues have only been experiencing setbacks in that respect. Where does this “move on, nothing to see here, all is well and good” come from??

That is correct, the healthcare sector IS hiring like crazy, especially for registered nurses here and overseas. Yes, we are an arm of the healthcare sector, but much more on the business/insurance/management side of things.
Make no mistake — you work in the INSURANCE sector at the end of the day
I assume when they mention healthcare they may be referring to more hands on healthcare workers such as nurses, doctors, therapists, etc. as being in very high demand.
