Does anyone know if RIFs are given on a Thursday of a payday week? Or do they really only happen on a non payday Thursday?

For the past 20 years RIFs or layoffs occur on a Thursday of a non pay week
There were a couple of exceptions to that
If someone is fired not a RIF or layoff, that happens immediately
There have been instances where it appears that rule is not followed. If the person to be laid off is on PTO it could be a different day. If the management person is on PTO it can be a different day
That’s all they have done for years
