Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

It’s cuts time, obviously

“Execution on our toy strategy was strong and we made meaningful progress in entertainment across film, television, digital and publishing,” Kreiz said in the company’s earnings release.

“We ended 2023 with the strongest balance sheet we have had in years, putting us in an excellent position to execute our strategy to grow Mattel’s IP-driven toy business and expand our entertainment offering,” he continued."

Can't they just make another old grandpa Jon Goodman commercial and everybody forgets all the bad?

It’s not what they say, it’s what they do! That’s how shareholders and employees should react to what is happening with your company and drive you actions.

Ousting Chuck is a major mistake, if he was free to run FP, it would thrive

Last poster, thanks for your analytics! So how about we explore the real reason why this is happening…Mattels massive overhead cost structure. It has literally destroyed FPs ability to be competitive. Mattel is not positioned to produce feature rich quality products like its competitors can. So yes, your numbers are correct, but the reason for it goes deeper than just numbers. FP, I salute you, in that it survived as long as it did, fighting the good fight with one hand tied behind its back!

The preschool category rose by 17% in the past five years but Fisher-Price declined by 40%. What do you expect them to do? Things change. Parents wants changed (less stuff/borrowed stuff).

So Christmas sales season ended, earnings reported and this is as good as it gets? Stock price languishing and investment community starting to ask legitimate questions, finally. Tailwinds up management’s a$$ is causing them to say stupid things and make continued mistakes.

Yet Chuck is ousted from FP and half their brands need to move to El Segundo so they can be properly mismanaged.
