There was a post about April RIF? Why they hiding it?

Well I wouldn't go as far as saying that they are contractually obligated to pay STI, but if they didn't pay it out you have a ton of pretty upset workers and you'd see a mass exodus the like of which has never been seen. Thankful for it, but that silly STI, which never really seemed to completely measure up to what you were supposed to get paid on paper, seemed like it was only real thing keeping people there working through all the stupidity and BS. Without it, I'm sure that they'd see a huge number of people leave. There's always an exodus just after STI payout, but not pay it one year and I'd wager that 1/3 of the people are outta there within 6 months. Not sure if they could survive that and still get any work done. Who knows maybe the SLT and the Board would welcome that.
yes, from what we have heard ... lower % on the STI, but still getting something
Is Lumen paying out STI for 2023?
I know it's a laughable question given the state of the company but, I do not see any conversations here about that and figured I would ask.
Another secretive RIF is in the works. This will affect a large organization which wasn't hit in November. This is in addition to the orgs already mentioned.
What company? It is looking like Brightspeed is mixing in with Lumen... The HR associate that posted was with Lumen. By the way.
hmmm.... please elaborate more on "Sales Support Associates", what roles & titles are these? What was the RIF count?
"Entire Sales Support Associates team RIF'd today."
Confirmed. Position/Org eliminated in total.
How big is the entire sales support associates team? What was their primary function? One would think sales support would be needed?
Entire Sales Support Associates team RIF'd today.
Yes, peoples lives are ruined. Savings/401k accounts are used to make mortgage payments instead of getting the kind of growth that you get in the last five years of saving something out of every paycheck..."take the money and run" is great advice if you're 35, but if you are 60 years old, have 25 years INVESTED in a company, and need a few more years to reach a retirement goal that you have given your adult working career to...and the rug gets pulled out from under you.... That is criminal.
The entire company and their leaders are id--ts and don’t care about anyone else but themselves sooo any manager that is left is in the club somehow of inept skills evil personality and in the business of self protection while they have the bxxxs to let people go all because they want to not because they have any credentials favoritism rules people lives are ruined
“Basic” fiber splicing knowledge gets you a job anywhere in the world. Fiber characterization sounds cool but it doesn’t light up a cell site. Unless the glass can be fused remotely. (Now that would be an innovation). As far as new employees go they are useful tools for the company. For now. Once the union is gone the in house techs will be too.
The newbies are optimistic because they have a job. They haven’t built anything concrete and don’t know the whole story or industry. Lumen will feed you a paycheck and use you wherever they can at your rate. The ones that built these systems are long gone! You ask why they are gone? Simple, no growth, no loyalty and a total lack of respect! With our skills we can go anywhere! You on the other hand, are stuck in a bubble! Good luck with that!
Back to the OP, the fact is Lumen destroys careers and this is how they RIF in 2024. You get so frustrated and bored you quit. Quiet Firing.
Meanwhile the contractors and corrupt few get richer and the company sinks further.
At this point won’t matter it is so hard to get people to respond or show up in certificate meetings. These folks might as well be let go
Lucky few will continue working for Lumen.
The ones who stay behind and keep working until you're asked to leave. You better than have good skill set for others to show interest. If you plan to use your copper, TDm, and basic fiber splicing knowledge. That won't get you anywhere.
Get into Fiber knowledge like Fiber characterization. There are only handful people who understands F char.
“You can call me Yes man or what ever.
Lumen has a plan for future to survive.
If you work in the copper or TDM department. You are not part of their plan.
It's a wake up call for many of you.
Leave awhile you can.“
Why? Why leave? I can install, repair and splice copper. I can install, repair and splice fiber. Just like the majority of all “copper” techs you refer to. I swear, you newbies with 2 years exp think fiber is a new technology that was invented when you got hired. By the way, lumens plan to survive is to be a cloud company. They don’t want techs or managers or managers for managers for those techs. They just want to sell the bandwidth and control the backend. So, if you’re an ept maybe you can contract back or work for brighspeed or whoever the Lumenites decide to sell operations to. Same if you’re in local management.
Leave if they ask you to, but stay and get as much money out them as you can. Good workers can do well anywhere.

Below was my exact experience in my last year before being riffed in Nov after over 3 decades of strong performance. It cost me a huge amount on 2022 STI. In the end I was one of the lucky ones to take the money/pension and run…..
In the market I worked in, at least 10 people that I know of were pushed out. I called it the "Silver or Lead" program. Folks who never in 20+ years had performance problems, were all of sudden on steps, while having a EVSPP dangled in front of them.
I think this was the strategy even going back a few years....This is the first time that I have seen anything posted about it, even after doing lots of searching online.
A few years ago, I could find information online about Link2Success.....All gone now!

Hopefully this post stays up....
I believe that this place was even being used as part of the strategy. Over and over and over, you would this constant posting on here of, "take the money and run"....over and over and over.
The real solution was to file grievances and to hold your Local accountable. Next step, if your local didn't do it, was to file ULP's with the Labor Board. If your Local was not doing what they were supposed to be doing, than you charge your local with failing their Duty of Fair Representation. That will wake'em up. If it doesn't, then you have a green light to fire the union as your representative, and to hire your own lawyer.
"rather than firing or laying off workers outright, research suggests that companies may increasingly be turning to another, subtler approach: quiet firing."
"To avoid the financial, psychological, and legal costs associated with forcing people out, some companies may intentionally create a hostile work environment that encourages people to leave voluntarily."
This environment and practice of alienating workers intentionally -- I actually see happening nearly every day at Lumen. Is it intentional or just horrific management?
The truth is Lumen has a bunch of people without enough to do.
Why is that?
Either poor management
or
This could the new woke "quiet firing".

Smoke and mirrors is the new Lumen way. Censoring posts to make it look like it’s the Best Employer is 2023! Right! These jokers are so delusional it’s ridiculous!
censorship is a thing, you know
Stock is up another 16% at least today. Were all good!
Well to put this back out there.. A HR employee posted on LinkedIn that they were looking for a new job because they were being laid off as part of a company-wide layoff coming around April 1st
CWA didn't approve the thread.
They can't afford to lose anymore members.
Maybe there was a TOS violation in the thread or a site admin accidently deleted it? I don't remember it being out of line compared to other threads here.
interesting!
