Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Just 4 years ago!

It was 4 years ago, I realized “this is only a job”.

Here is the set-up. It was a supply chain group that probably lost 40-50% HC since CPM started. They were the so called “enablers”. Really just duplicating what the BUs already do for themselves.

You had managers who were either DEI or literally the son in laws of the director they report to. The managers mostly never did any real contracting. There was a total lack of organization and structure. You could literally work at your leisure and get a second job if you wanted.

The org added “imaginary value”.

Anyway, it was a great awakening for me. I had to leave before I was grossing 200k as a meaningless IC with no real work experience and unable achieve the same income outside of the company. It was literally an early midlife crisis that this experience brought on for me in my 30s.

Intel had the ability to su-k the enthusiasm out of life for me, but it was helpful because it helped me realize the it was only a job and have a new outlook.

Anyway, it won’t change much. Some of you will leave in time, but many will continue to be lemmings. But being a lemming is not too bad…. Every year you survive and advance it is like another 1.5 weeks of severance. So who can blame anyone from staying when they are looking at almost a year of pay?

The outlook is like a rocket sputtering and running out of gas…. Ready to come crashing down. AMD will take more market share of client …5-10 % per year. They will continue to take server at an even higher rate. Lastly most spend will be directed at AI install bases… and we aren’t even sure if Intel is a solid 3rd behind Nvidia and AMD.

Obviously you feel like a victim but I am not sure why. By your own description the org you were in only provided "imaginary value" and duplicated the work already being done by the business units. You compensation was approaching $200k a year for doing nothing of value and now you can't find a job elsewhere that will pay you that much to do nothing? Welcome to the real world! The only problem I see in your post is that the group you were in should have been cut by 100%. This duplicate effort is exactly what should be getting cut if the company is ever going to recover. Good luck in the job market. Make sure your next job adds value to the company you go to work for so you don't go through this again in your 40s.
