Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

For layoffs, was number of sick days taken a factor?

I know hippaa rules protect you some but I believe your number of sicks taken is visible by management. Was this a potential factor in you being laid off?

What percentage of people layed off didn't specify their pro nouns?

I had some pretty serious health issues last year and had taken off probably 6-8 weeks in sick/FTO including a few vacations. I’m still here, so I don’t think that was a primary consideration.

If a large amount of sick time caused your job performance to suffer materially, the low performance might have affected you. If you have health issues in the future, sign up for FMLA. It offers you some protection. If you were in a team that was eliminated, job performance is irrelevant.

I don’t think that’s a big factor. Do you suspect another round of layoffs in the coming month or two?

I was laid off in November and had taken maybe 2 sick days in 6 1/2 years.
