I don't understand the shock, surprise by those that have just been laid off, and frankly, all the condolences they are receiving.
Anyone that has stayed with the company, especially in the last 2 years, what are/were you thinking? When you saw your co workers getting chopped, did you not think you were next?
When you saw gvp's or regional managers cut that ran profitable territories, did you not think you could be next?
When you saw regionals leave, on their own, did you not think-they might know what is ahead, have an inside scoop?
Yes, we all feel bad, especially for those that have so many years of dedication, but the word and advice has been out for a long.

So many, including myself (not laid off) have left and found much better, higher paying jobs, and you can too.
So just do it!

this company is pure evil.
Sounds harsh but really quite true. Like he/she said, the writing is and has been on the wall. Nobody in this company has any job security. Take the advice and move on to a better company, I did and kick myself for not doing it sooner. I was around long enough to know what Follett was like, back in the day, the values meant something and you felt appreciated, not just a number. It is hard to change, especially when you are older, but if you can't retire find something else sooner than later.

This dude right here sounds like the JRC mouthpiece. Surely no one who works for a living could be this much of an a-hole to his fellow co-workers during a rough time.
