Hard times in the tech industry are here, but there are so many factors causing the turmoil this time - AI, supply-chain disruptions, geopolitical instability, inflation, changes in consumer habits. AI is especially disruptive, and so new and unknown that it may actually ki-l companies who go fast on relying upon it. Leading companies are so robust that any reorg or adjustment means that we are being let go in thousands. Look at Google, or Amazon - 10k, 20k people gone in one swoop. And look at us - with all the fails we had in the past, we are still stumbling in the dark. I wonder how this will all shake up. This smells to me like a milestone. I wouldn’t be surprised if the tech industry is unrecognizable in a short time. And workers will get the short end of a stick.

Panic! Bedlam! The world is ending!
Y’all need to get out of Intel and chill. Companies that over hired during the pandemic are correcting. The rest of us are just fine. Still hiring even. If you’re not an arrogant hack, come try out! Envy is a bad look on you Intel folks, y’all are green with it.
Harder times on the horizon. Look back to the 2008/9 time frame. No promotions or pay increases but we still had jobs and even got bonuses. It wasn't fun but it sure was better than the lives of millions who lost everything and were looking to start over. I was grateful to survive those times. This has the potential to be a lot worse.
