My luck has drastically turned around in the last few weeks. Seems like companies are finally getting through the stacks of applications that build up over EOY hiring freezes. Had a handful of interviews last week and have been told to expect an offer this upcoming week from two companies

I'm finding good demand for engineering skill sets.

To the person laid off in November, what kind of job did you have (engineer, dev, HR, etc)? How long had you worked at Viasat?

Was let go in Nov, being heavenly applying and doing any interview that i can get my hands on. Finally three offer came in end of Jan but the pay is very low, its like fresher to mid level range and expecting 5 to 8+yr experience for the pay.

Seems like salary has gone down quite a bit.

To anyone who is in places over on the other coast or in the south wanting to leave for California. Please do not come.

My wife and I were thinking pretty seriously about a move to North Carolina or Florida. Much lower energy prices, much lower taxes, lower home prices. We will stay for now, but may eventually join the crowd of people leaving California.

Depends on your skill set. I've been getting interviews and a couple of offers. Good luck.

I did nothing with regards to job searching prior to the layoff. I didn’t even have an updated resume (as I had worked for ViaSat for a long time). I also started a new job this year. I feel extremely fortunate and lucky as I got the job through my network.

Decent offer though though pay is slightly less than ViaSat. Dynamics of the new place are invigorating.

I spent a lot of time looking and applying. I had 3 solid offers to choose from which were all similar pay to what lost, and I started a new role this week which I feel good about. It's with a company I was trying to get into before I was laid off.

Severance was barely enough to cover transition time, and I was fortunate to be able to go on my spouse's insurance.
