Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Why haven’t we heard anything about the sale of MA to HCSC? So frustrating and discouraging….

“ What is taking so long to annouce something?”

The most likely scenario is that Cigna isn’t being offered as much as they want.

If you look you will see lots of articles discussing general anxiety about the MA market. Providers don’t like it. Customers don’t like it. MA stocks are slumping. Not a great environment for a divesture.

So the announcement came out January 3rd... almost a month ago. What is taking so long to annouce something? Cigna??? ... why leak this to the media, create fear and worry for your MA staff, and then go a MONTH without any updates? Time for another "leak", don't you think?

Just came across this article from last month. Medicare Advantage through many companies (not just Cigna) seems to be imploding. The future of MA as a whole is uncertain.

These things take time, we won't know anything until both sides agree, and even then it's still a process for it to actually happen. If it stays quiet for a long time and we start to notice the random and sudden shift to invest into Medicare and hire more Medicare employees, then we know the deal fell through.

So far no more funding of new Medicare initiatives and barely any hiring, if this changes with no announcement, you know it's not happening.

I would think if the DOJ doesn’t give the waiver to drop this integrity agreement, a sell wouldn’t happen. That’s what I believe the wait is now, to try to get that waiver.

So the sell isn't happening?

My manager said that since Cigna committed fraud they had to sign an integrity agreement that will go with whoever buys MA. HCSC doesn’t want to take on this burden because it’s a lot of work and will hurt their business.

Google it. They are the ones trying to buy MA.

“I think they need the waiver from the doj before the deal is done, then I’m assuming it will go through all of the shareholders and that if they get the waiver. My manager has said nothing about all of it, is it being brought up in other areas?”

Keep an eye on the stock price.
If there is a big change you know a decision has been made one way or the other.

If the deal had fallen through, it would have been announced. They are probably finalizing the deal to go through and then it will need DOJs approval.

Well, if talks weren't still ongoing, I think we would have heard that the talks fell through. That's my take on it. I know lots of folks view this site. Hard to believe none of those people know anything that can be shared though.

Legally nothing can be announced until it’s a for sure thing.

So it’s all a waiting game
