Well apparently it's not happening today. But when?

So what's our best guess now then? Tuesday, January 16th??
In response to Definitely no Zen's comment on off-shoring...Gainwell's current pathetic situation is due to inefficient, unproductive, self indulgent US staff and management, how much worse can it get with off-shoring? And if Indian managers had that much influence on decision making, so many Indian ppl in US would not have gotten laid off!
For this upcoming layoff, any ideas on how Gainhell's execution team will get a hold of the employees affected?Asking for a friend. TIA.
Stop denying that GW is going to have layoffs. Stop asking questions that you already know the answer to. Things like - How will Gainwell operate with 2,000 less employees? How can they layoff 1 in every 6 employees?
This is already in motion. The layoffs in the US will be offset with hiring in India. The data will be housed in the US and accessed remotely. The hours of the India team will be altered to match the need in the US.
Yep everyone needs to get over it. It’s all in motion. And the leaders don’t care what you think.
Veritas only cares about money. It would seem to me that once they get finances back in the black by this offshoring they will sell.
So stop asking how and why. That doesn’t matter.
I'll like to address several of the comments from this thread as best I can.
- to answer this thread's main question. the plan so far is for the layoffs to happen on the 19th. However, the training sessions for the managers that are to execute the WFR have not been scheduled. its possible that it might be delayed. but everything keeps indicating that it will happen.
- Offshoring will happen regardless of what any of us think. upper management and Veritas have made their minds about it. they might have a high level plan for this to happen, but battle plans never survive contact with the enemy. Believe me, it will be a big mess.
- working 16+ hours a day?!?!, well, that might have been true 20 years ago. the reality is that many, many big name companies have setup shop in India. There are now rules and regulations over there to make job hopping more difficult, but its still very doable. What will happen is that they will say yes to anything, simply to secure the job, including the promise to align their ours with US business hours. it will happen at first but that will change very quickly. What will happen is that whomever is still US-based, will have to pick up the slack, US-based people will end up having super early or super late meetings just so they can get any work done from their offshore "peers".
- The company its only looking at the bottom line, short term. They do not care if the client pays the price for offshoring. By paying the price I mean poor quality, delayed work, missed deadlines, did I mention poor quality?!? they don't care what any US-based resources need to do in order to make it happen. Upper management does not deal with the day to day realities, and they don't care. They will create the mess, and it will be ours to clean. that is... until there is no more mess to clean (no mess= no company).
- We have many US-based high level managers from India working extremely hard to make offshoring happen. They care only about 2 things: Making themselves look like heroes, and sending jobs back to the motherland. They do not need a plan, they are just paying lip service to higher ups in order to secure even more power in this company. they are a MAFIA, make no mistake about it. that is the quiet part they never say. There are exceptions, some of them do not want offshore to happen because they know their people, they know it will be a mess.... but these exceptions are so far and few in between it will not make a difference.
- Finally, yes, I agree its a waste of time to try and justify why it could never happen, it matters not. Instead start wondering about your plan B, what will you do if you get hit by a WFR, either this month or the next. don't be in denial.
Take care everybody, do what's best for you.
Don't belong, never join, think for yourself. peace.
if you identify as indian, you might be spared
I'd start hoarding paper and post-its but since I work from home it kinda loses it's luster from taking it to the man.
“Get over it”
Agreed. The layoffs are going to happen. Asking questions like what the company will do without 2000 employees is pointless. They will figure it out or they won’t. But the point is that they are going to do it regardless of what anyone thinks.
Better questions to be asking are:
What is my plan B?
Should I be looking for another job?
Is there any benefit to staying and taking on the risk of being laid off on a daily basis?
People in denial are the boomers. They will be the majority who will be dropped by GW. Best course of action right now is to do the bare minimum because you will be replaced whether you believe it not.
Why are people still in denial about ramping up India and ramping down the US?
Why do people keep asking questions like the hours of the India workers? Or the location of PHI?
The company has made the decision to hire heavy in India and lay off in the US. They have solutions to these issues. It is going to happen. It is happening right now.
If you choose to remain a Gainwell Technologies employee then you are assuming the risk of being laid off. This is a high risk that will happen on a daily basis.
Accept this fact. Stop denying it. Stop asking what the company will do without employees in the US. You aren’t going to will yourself out of the risk of layoff. It’s a foregone conclusion. It’s already in motion.
The India team will shift their working hours to overlap with the business hours of the account and/or team. They are already doing this within Gainwell.
They do it all the time. They are more willing to work up to 16 hours a day and weekends because they have a job.
India is on the complete opposite of the US clock so how is that going to work for meetings? It's 10:00pm in India at the moment.
Does anyone have any specifics to share??
They are getting ready to hire a ton of Indians end of the month
