Is Kate loosing faith in Jay? Another bad hire? Going back to a combined sales and CS org?
More cuts?

Lets be clear, if you put it in the cloud you can't report on it because the other 99.9% is on premise.
It took you well over 30 years to get the data in your on premise, fastest RDBMS in the world (Oracle) database.
And you want to start moving it to the cloud because of AI?
How about learning how process the data with AI and ML in the database you already have instead of spending the next 20 years moving to the cloud first.
It's not just moving the data to the cloud, the other 95% is converting all the systems that were created to produce it.
Simple minds just can't understand that.
A little common sense would go a long ways. Cancel all the cloud projects and just keep it where you already have it. Oracle costs a lot for a reason.
GCP, AWS, AZURE are best for younger companies just getting started or those with a fairly simple base to convert.
Lumen, your not a tech company, your a legacy company.
You can use modern technologies but use your brains and do it in a sensible way.
Lumen needs a CRO that gets the telecom services market and its intersection with cloud. Ashley? Really?
And... sales can't just shovel sh*t... They need compelling products to sell. Maybe the new AI guy will pull that rabbit out of the hat.

"It's sad that this place keeps trying to generate revenue by coming up with new products or pretending to be a technology, AI or software company when they are none of these things!! "
YES!!! Do you remember when Kate started and the whole theme was that we were now going to be a "technology" company? And the mere mention of the word telecom was frowned upon? A couple years later and were a telecom company all over again. Seems that they realized telecom and connectivity is where all the revenue comes from and not homegrown APIs. lol.
If she is any good, she'll realize in less than 90 days sales is overpaid and CR understaffed and underpaid.
Layoffs coming to sales people adding no other value than putting orders in and working around the nuances for years.
Still, that doesn't fix the fact Lumen doesn't have many assets they can properly monetize on to break even soon given their current commercial strategies.

Just be very good at the core business and stop doing the other 99 things poorly.
Also, stop doing wasteful things that you have always done.
I'll give Ashley a few easy ones to get started.

All planning meetings are to be limited to 50 people or less.
(yes, meetings of 300-800+ are pretty common and extremely wasteful).
- Stick with your on premise database and eliminate all plans to move to the cloud
- Create a proven winners technology stack and stick with it.
(hint: stop buying unproven software and beta testing for IBM products)
- Simplify and/or eliminate the enterprise architecture group. The track record of failures is a mile long.
1 - Collect underpants
2 - ?
3 - Profit
I never had faith in Jay. Kate isn't a good leader and she can't seem to pick the right talent either! This isn't Microsoft where you can ride off the flagship Office 365. That product sells itself! New leadership or preferably new ownership is needed!
