Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

This says it all

A year ago in late 2022, if you were to ask me (Medicare Employee) if I would support Cigna Medicare being sold off, I would have ferociously been against that Idea. One year later and the Cigna work culture has deteriorated so bad due to FOW, layoffs, many reorgs, and unachievable metrics... Now I wouldn't mind it such an idea. Perhaps divesting Medicare might foster a refresh to our work culture that we so desperately need. Cordani has damaged Cigna's work culture so bad that I fear it will only get worse.

I have nothing else to add to this post. Sad affair.

I am feeling the same way. Things have been rumored for so long, morale is in the s——-r because who knows if anything your working on is going to matter. We all deserve to know 1 way or another at this point.

I just want a definitive yes or no. Regardless of what happens, are we getting sold off to another entity or not? Nothing is stopping Cigna from saying not at this time as it wouldn’t be illegal to say if they don’t sell this year. No comment is being responded due to something happening with MA.

I’m low on the corporate totem poll so the above is just my hypothesis of current events.

Does anyone secretly want to get bought out by HCSC or laid off with severance from MA? I'm tired... and need a change. Good or bad.

You can definitely ask to he put on a list.

The company would much rather you go with severance than to lose a person who wants to be here.

If they’re already performing layoffs wht wouldnt they just lay you off if you asked then?

“Is it true? You can really ask to be put at the top of the list for lay-offs? I would sign up if I knew there was not a negative impact.”

Dream on. I left Cigna over six months ago after five years of asking to be put at the top of any layoff list that came up. These were discussions with my manager, HR, and anyone else who would listen. If they know you want out, they will just wait you out until you can’t take another day, even if it’s years. Definitely saves them on severance pay.

Hcsc taking on over 600,000 members in 24 more states than they currently have will definitely change their workforce which I would think expand remote work options.

HCSC is not a remote friendly company though.

As a Cigna Medicare Employee, news of this sale has actually given me hope. I've been wanting out of Cigna due to the sinking work culture. I used to have recruiters reaching out to me all the time with job offers in 2020 & 2021. When Cigna decided to implement the d-mb FOW, I finally decided to apply for other remote jobs mid 2023. Now that I am actively seeking remote employment elsewhere, things are a lot different. I've applied to over 15 remote jobs that I am more than qualified for, received e-mails/automated response confirming I am qualified, and referred for hiring, but not a single interview or call. Competition for remote jobs in 2023/2024 is fierce. The only jobs I can find call backs and interviews are for Hybrid local jobs. I know it's very optimistic to think this way, but I hope this sale makes changes in our work culture and structure for the better. Things are going downhill and I would embrace HCCS to save us from Cordani. #Firecordani

“Yo, where do I get voluntary severance?!”

You can tell your mgr and/or HR that you would like to be let go first in the event of a layoff. This will put you at the top of the list to be cut.

“Sometimes, weeks go by where I literally cry daily.”

You should look into taking voluntary severance and get out of this situation.

“Furthermore, it is imperative to relinquish the astonishing DEI culture,”

DEI is such a sham.
Any business which buys into the idea that forced racial diversity will achieve diversity of thought probably isn’t worth working for.

I loved my job and the workplace, but it has steadily gone downhill since maybe 2021. I used to actually look forward to going to work! Sometimes, weeks go by where I literally cry daily.

Furthermore, it is imperative to relinquish the astonishing DEI culture, as it contributes to the decline in the work environment. It is crucial to clarify that my stance is not against DEI; however, it is essential for individuals to comprehend that it is also a contributing factor.

Agree 100%, If you would have asked me if I would like Cigna to sell Medicare over 1 year ago, I would have said NO! However, now I think it might be for the best. Cigna's work culture is getting worse.
