Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

SNOW Market Cap $60B, TDC Market Cap $4B

The numbers say all you need to know. Our ex-part-time contractor, so called Chief Technical Officer SB called Snowflake a "toy" and said the cloud would never work for enterprise data warehousing. And nobody else on the ELT had enough market knowledge or technical acumen to challenge him. We just watched Snowflake swoop in and take our customers without much of a fight.

A couple friends work for a former TD customer. There were cheers when they finally migrated off TD.

Intersystems has eclipsed one billion in revenue. Starburst valued at $3.3B. Space and Time at $300M. All growing. Teradata talent is thriving in data.

"I personally don't pay them much mind in my territory (compared to other competition)."

Funny because speaking to a databricks rep recently he said a similar thing about us. He said they love speaking to our customers because he knows they are looking to migrate off and he doesn't lose any sleep over what we are doing in the account knowing that we've already lost the lakehouse battle.

Our market cap of $3b is flattering considering the lack of revenue growth we have in a market that is booming. No new logo's and a customer base thinking of how fast they can migrate off us.

Unfortunately, it was this thinking that got Teradud where it is today.

@1fdl+1qpO9xHc This is similar thinking at a smaller scale that got us in trouble with the cloud in general, not taking it serious. Snowflake is not focused on data warehousing, they are focused on app development in the cloud, on the data customers are putting in the cloud. There might be a lull right now, but they are miles ahead of us. And even at the data warehouse level in the cloud, Snowflake is better than us

Snowflake has done well for themselves, but interest in them, especially with enterprise companies, is waning. I personally don't pay them much mind in my territory (compared to other competition).
