I work as a SR Director in workforce planning and Layoff's for 2024 are coming down the pipeline. Just in time for company wide payouts. They need to give these poor people notice and not 2 weeks! SMH... Already looking on my end for a new gig UHG/Optum is a mess.

This weeks layoff gutted every MD and leadership position in the state, most MD and leadership positions in our region. Layoffs by position. No one left that had any decision making power previously so we have one or two people try to to fix the mess left after two weeks. Also lost every “ambassador” in the country. Earlier this year lost our dieticians and pharmacists. We do home care for the sickest of the sick and will have no resources to actually care for them going forward. Reason given financial of course and to make us more in light with optum’s other home programs (the ones that don’t take care of the sickest of the sick)
Nearly the entire team of Bus Development/Sales in Senior Care were given their two-week notice yesterday. Coincidentally, those in Senior Leadership that are directly responsible for the utter failure of the business unit, are staying.
Senior analyst, got laid off today in an 10am meeting by my manager with two weeks notice due to my “position being cut”, nothing to do with performance
I just got the notice at 10 am this morning. 2 weeks.
My position was actuarial associate director
200 + providers just got notified they would be out of a job in 90 days. Optum stopping all virtual appointments. I guess they need more ransom money for Change Healthcare.
Optum is conducting more layoffs today. Several Operational Directors were let go with 2 weeks notice. I think it’s going to be a large volume of staff. I hope they comply with the WARN act requiring 60 days notice or 60 days pay this time. There’s an open lawsuit from 2023 for this.
"I'm an executive director with Optum, and got laid off last week. Hundreds were laid off, apparently, with only 2 weeks notice."
Which area? How many others were impacted?

If NCM’s and nurses are bright laid off, then surely community field workers are being laid off too.
Another round of layoffs at Optum Home & Community (Landmark) today. They eliminated Telephonic Engagement Specialists & Provider Engagement Specialists across all markets, and the Delta Team that launches new markets.
The jobs are being sent to India and the Philippines
I got laid off just this morning-Contract Remote Risk Adjustment Medical Coder. I was notified yesterday afternoon of a meeting this morning where they let us all (+100 people) go. There were 5-10 of us (~10%) on my team that were let go. (01/24/2024)
All my respect to the clinical staff. This is so disappointed how nurses, radiologists, providers are getting laid off.
It was risk adjustment coding department.
I heard it was all temp coders. Not hourly coders. That’s why they were able to let them go like that. They are not Optum employees. For now.
No, you don't get paid during furloughs. It's designed to stem company expenses without officially letting people go.
Still have not heard of the 400 cuts from my immediate circle.
I thought Furlough is not a layoff. Wouldn't they still get paid while they're off and they are brought back after the Furlough?
Which department/area? 400 is a pretty noticeable chunk and I haven't heard anything from my colleagues (yet).
Also, unless these 400 people follow different timesheet policies or are not salaried, my area only explicitly puts time in for pto, we don't put hours in for time worked.

They just layed off more than 400 coders this morning. No notice. Called a meeting and said, "you're all furloughed through April or longer. Please put in your timed work today and log off." Immediately.
I"m at Optum in Colorado Springs. They laid off our entire radiology department yesterday in the briefest, most mysterious meeting ever. Nothing was known until the meeting, not even our managers knew. They're only keeping x-ray for the urgent care for 3 locations. All of us, gone February 1 and 15
Gearing up for yet another round of layoffs in Q1 2024. Sr Mgt confirmed 1/17/24; a Manager I was to be offered a role with had to pull a requisition back due to layoff advisement at senior levels of their area. This is to be company wide. Layoffs every quarter consistently it feels like. UHC / Optum has been able to skirt the WARN act law, because it's state based not company based. So the mass layoffs of 22-25% of the company have to be by state to be out of compliance. Because they're not by state, UHC gets away with it. (That is directly from Department of Labor.) Additionally - watch out for mass hiring events to be conducted afterwards, just like they did in late Q3/early Q4. 3 Remote hiring events and Job Fairs were published on job search platforms, and sent out to many job seekers via email. Literally a punch in the face.
Why is there no talk of redeployments? Has this ended?
Thank you! This helps with how financially I can deal with this. I’ve been thru a few of these company mergers. UHC & OPTUM have been the most stomach turning, mind wondering and just sadness I’ve felt.
Correct, you get 1 week of PTO + Severance. You can apply for unemployment after the severance period runs out.
Hello, if you are let go do you get 40hrs pto plus severance? Also can you apply for unemployment?
I used to save up pto. Now I only keep at max 40 hrs so that if the trapdoor opens beneath me, I left nothing more for the big guy.
Optum 360?
Are they outsourcing jobs as usual?
You have to be working on date of payout. That's the work around.
Bonus is for 2023 so not sure how they can legally get away with not paying it out at the time of release as long as it’s after 12/31. Although I’m sure they have highly paid attorneys who can figure out a way to sc--w everyone.
Would layoffs typically include nurse case managers and social workers?
UHC & Optum have a sinister past of committing federal violations AND they are not held accountable. Time to expose the facts MFers!!
The Texas poster should feel grateful as that state is not required to pay out ANY earned PTO. Your gov could care less about workers- those 40 hours paid were a gift from Optum.
Only 40 hrs pto will be cashed out. I was laid off last month and i lost almost 62 hrs of PTO. I love in Texas.
For the person who has the appointment next Thursday, which department are you in?
I was scheduled for a meeting next Thursday, a private one, not like I don't have them regularly, but this one is not sitting right. I love my boss, my team, but time to take that 8hrs of free PTO.
Take your Floater first. Earned PTO is paid out on termination - if you are in a liberal state.
A lot of green folks here.
"Random question - if we get laid off, does that amazing floating holiday (gee thanks Andy!) get paid out with our PTO?..."
Doubtful. If you read the policy language about PTO...it's considered a grant, not earned, and that is spelled out. The policy also goes into detail about in what specific instances any PTO is paid out at termination. And depending on in which state you live, that can vary as well.
Random question - if we get laid off, does that amazing floating holiday (gee thanks Andy!) get paid out with our PTO? I’m anticipating they will try to withhold everything they can, and do layoffs prior to bonus/stock vesting.
