Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Uncertainities everyday

Everyone knows Cigna is trying to save money, Reduce Opex etc. We hear rumors of layoffs in different months. It creates a lot of fear , uncertainty and doubt. What is everyone’s exit plan? Are they waiting to get fired? Are they looking at finding other jobs? The sense is it’s going to be losing peace of mind either ways. Staying is going to be difficult , finding jobs is
Going to be difficult and then there is AI and offshoring .

The success of unemployment appeals varies by state. Here in Arizona your employer can basically set any standard to let you go with cause and the DES will side with them.

That’s terrible that they did that to you. Cigna has become an awful place to work. They have shown us over the last few months that we are just a warm body easily replaced. Were you able to appeal that decision with unemployment? They will most likely side with you.

Please beware if you’re waiting to be let go so you can collect unemployment. A lot of companies are using a tactic where they make it harder to meet conversions per hr and then once they fire you, they tell unemployment that the employee was warned for let’s say a 90 day period and if u didn’t meet the numbers you will be disqualified for unemployment. That’s what happened to me.

What departments are offshoring?

Before all of this, I was complacent and rolling with the job for less stress - despite the fact they pay me way less than what my skill set usually pulls.

Now, I'm applying elsewhere and being picky at the moment. I've also cancelled my vacation plans and am saving money. Kind of defeats the main reason I was staying (vacation time).

I could use a couple months off - I hope they lay me off. Then, I'll be less picky and take a job that just pays more instead of seeking WAY more and exactly what I want.

Seems like greed got the best of them after seeing the first bids and thinking they could get more if they asked for the best possible offers after that which turned the bidders away a little as if they weren’t good enough. Analysts state they wouldn’t understand why Cigna would divest without the humana deal, also in every article I read it states the bids may not come to a deal. Trying to be optimistic but still realistic. Nothing that we can control so we will try to wait patiently and see. I am glad to have these threads that make me feel less alone through all of this.

Cigna is set to lose with the Medicare business this year. I can’t see them coming this far and not making a deal. I also can see the Humana deal coming to fruition down the line.

I thought that was really weird tgat the best and final bids were lower. Isn't it supposed to be higher? Really weird and I agree maybe they won't accept any of them after all. I wish someone would announce something. It's hard to be motivated about this coming year for sure.

I’m in MA too. Refresh the web page for the bid a few times a day waiting to see something either way. Last article I read stated elevance did not bid which I think is good news. They did ask for the best and final bids from companies that did bid after they were already given their first bids. It seems as if they aren’t getting the amount they are looking for, but who knows, could be a tactic to get more. I did see the second bids were lower than the first so that didn’t work out. Hoping for the best for everyone in this position, even if it doesn’t sell, we aren’t safe but at least we have some sort of direction.

MA as well. Just hoping that a decision is made soon. Sadly, I’ve lost all motivation and am just waiting for that push to get me going.

I am in MA so I was waiting to see what happens with the sale. It's hard to know what to do. I work from home and remote jobs are hard to get now, even at Cigna with the focus on hybrid.
