Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How is 2024 looking on layoffs?

Can we expect cuts to start already in January or later in the year?

The earlier in January, the better! A new start for everyone affected.

Much easier and cheaper to hire in India. Plus, you don't have to worry about that pesky motivation as it will be a simple 'command and control' culture. Which is exactly what Suren and the rest of them want.

We want to treat you like a factory to push work through vs. making any organizational changes that make us able to respond quickly to markets. We'll TELL you what the market wants and when and you just produce it.

Okay!

You WILL participate in our 'voluntary culture of learning' by taking the courses we tell you to take, and when to complete them by so your leaders can brag about the % of their staff who've done it and we can glad hand each other in meetings.

Okay!

It's the company they're looking to build. Not participative. Not with engaged employees who want to make the brand better and discover new and better ways of working.

Command and control, right out of the 70's. Shut up and sing.

Three definite rounds of layoffs in 2024. It is associated with a set goal for 2023 and 2024 combined. First is Q1 so maybe January? Second will be rolling with the largest cut in late June or early July. Final Cut will be the annual beheading in October.

Look for evaluations to be a bloodbath and the excuse to reduce staff. The new system is not your friend.

Don’t jump ship too quick! If you have a good resume and skills the severance is sweet

For those that us remain I would expect that this will be most of ours' last Christmas being an Allstate employee. The amount of training and hiring in India for all roles is worrying. I would anticipate a lot of cuts and potentially lifting and shifting to offshore vendor companies in 2024. In addition agents recently received their impossible 2024 sales and comp program and 2024 looks to be the start of the big exclusive agency dump and the highly long anticipated move away from agents to corporate direct sales and products.

AI will take over in the next 5 years reducing adjuster staffing even more. Allstate India is hiring more people over there and soon American jobs will be gone.

They need to see how much money they’ll lose in Q1 before they can make that decision. Probably early Feb.

They hold layoff plans very close to the vest. Lower level employees and their leaders would have no advance notice of long term plans for 2024. It is still likely based on poor performance that layoffs will be necessary.

Like a thief in the night, just like every f-ing time they do this, you will not know much until it happens to you. India is going to be given more responsibilities in the next year that’s a given and so more jobs will be going there in 2024 that were held in liability and casualty. It’s what they’ve been doing for several years so do you think they are through? No way. The labor is 1/4 of what it is here. You make 70k in claims? Your Indian brothers make 25k to do what you do and are glad for it. Allstate saves money doing this. It’s a business and you are not a real part of it. The executive team and a few essential on shore players are. Not the ones doing the real work. Everyone needs to stop kidding themselves. Allstate did this before with departments and they won’t stop. Make your exit plan and have a happy new year
