Toxic Environment- Identifying Signs/Symptoms

What do you feel our signs of a toxic workplace that impact you?

Personally, I find it to be interference from people and management preventing one and dept from succeeding. Some examples include manager refusing or not doing quarterly evaluations, no 1:1 or lack of productive 1:1, canceled team meetings, no communication and stopping one from internal interviews intentionally.

Toxic also involving false reprimands and other hostile actions, pitting employees against others and creating culture of fear and intimidation.

Did I miss anything? Is this not enough to be egregious toxic hostile place?

I see a lot of posts like this. The main thing I experienced is a focus on ensuring you’re as confused and isolated as possible. The other one is people leaders creating a problem so they can solve it to become the hero. I complained about my salary and I think that was the last straw with the last supervisor I had smh. I still feel stupid about it but I shouldn’t. The main thing that has blown me away in my adult life is seeing how entitled people are that they can think of people like chess pieces. Sometimes I wish I could be more like that, I probs would make more money and get more opportunities. Cigna seems really confusing right now for a lot of people. It’s wild because some areas are sunshine and rainbows and others I hear stories that make me wonder how people survived the abuse. It just seems totally inconsistent. So when people blame Cigna for everything it’s not Cigna. It’s minimal amount of toxic, controlling, and manipulative folks that spoil large areas of the company. Hold on to your truth and remember you’re doing the best you can. I see so much pain on here and I come on because what happened to me and it makes me feel less alone. Anyhow, thanks for posting regardless.

“ Agree about DEI because exceptionalism, hard work, ethics (EHE) doesn’t matter. Have to give in to mediocrity.”

This is b.s. and demonstrates a pathetic victim mentality. I don't see any real evidence of this. Of course there may be isolated instances - and I am definitely NOT claiming Cigna doesn’t have major issues now. But I can almost guarantee the person who posted this is, at best mediocre, and constantly looks for scapegoats to blame for their own failings rather than doing better themselves.

Gaslighting. Leaders looking to assign fault instead of taking accountability. Constant moving or cancelling of 1:1s. Making assumptions versus listening to all sides when an issue arises.
