Here are some simple actions you can take to let execs know we're not backing down. Take them or leave them.
Do not buy anything when you're on campus. Execs are doing everything they can to justify the open campus. Since we're already spending money on the commute, and everything on campus is crazy expensive anyway, save your money or go off campus and get some much better food. They hit your pocketbook. Hit theirs back. If they want to play games with RTO, then we play to win. Here are a few pointers:
- Tank pulse and keep that employee satisfaction number low. If management makes threats, report it to HR and report it on anonymous review sites like Indeed, Glassdoor, Niche.com, and SimplyHired. Wayne and the board might not care, but potential employees and our members do. If the execs won't take care of the employees, maybe the members will eventually make a fuss.
- Speaking of those sites, give USAA an honest employee review. I would encourage you to be respectful but be blatantly honest so that would be prospects go elsewhere. Call out things like USAA sayings we're hybrid when we're really not (1 day a week from home is NOT hybrid).
- Document everything. If you have emails you need to save, drag them out of Outlook and into a folder just for safe keeping. HR and management work to save the company's butt, not yours.
- If you do find another job, be totally honest with management on why you're leaving. Don't be a jerk (this will just make you look bad and it won't sting USAA as bad). Be firm and if your coworkers ask why you're leaving, give them the honest truth.
- Lastly, be awesome at your job now. Don't slack off. Make it hurt when you find something new and leave. Also, remember not to take any counteroffer if USAA comes back and says you can work from home all of a sudden. If they didn't care before, who wants to work for a company with that kind of attitude.
