Who came up with the cr-p shared space idea? Two junk monitors and a mouse that should just be put in a bin. Whisper when you take a call because you don't want to disturb others. Completely ineffective for productivity. The people that want to be in the office just want to find people to talk to.

Would you like to stay at home and keep pretending like you're working the entire workday or would you prefer to keep your job? That's the real question.
"Shared office space" is a sure-fire signal that we can reduce that class of worker until there is only one person for each office space.
No GM can approve wfh. MKW will swing his axe and even a GM may find themselves on the dole sone.
Just get r done. We all know it stinks but the gravy train is coming to its final destination. Just hang on through 2024 and then it will all ease up as the axe ma takes a breather.
Ever thought maybe there is something in the works that doesn't require more cubicles? Have a little think here.... suggest tightening up the entitlement
talk and get back to the office and make it work asap...
My chapter head isn’t going to RTO, and apparently it was “approved” by the GM or higher. But I have to come back and probably share a cubicle with 2 other people. I have to sit in this cubicle farm packed in like sardines and listen to other people take teams calls while I try to code. And no, I don’t need to spend 8-9 hours a day “collaborating” or “teaming” with people. If my chapter head can live out of state, why can’t I?
In the group I am in 90% have RTO and 10% hasn’t. The problem is that 10% are very difficult to get ahold of. So if they are working so much why would they be difficult to get ahold of. Is it because they aren’t working while they are at their house.
OP, you are missing the point of RTO entirely. The key thing is RTO to keep your job.! Hello!!??
Some people do more work from home, but most don't, so there's that pesky little detail.
Some of us do work more from home. You can focus on the work and not random chit chat and other distractions. Also without the long commute you are less tired and more likely to work extra hours. When I go to the office I'm just counting down until it's time to leave. Most meetings are on teams due to people being all over the world and the company doesn't have the space for RTO so getting a desk is difficult and if you get a shared space it tough to work for hours like that.
Funny... none of you all work that hard when big brother looks at your logs whenever your managers and HR requests it. And people claim they work more WFH, that's hogwash.
RTO with shared office (cube) space is beyond insulting, and clearly reserved for the lowest psgs in the company.
Who came up with the idea? Talk to real estate and HR. They attend every mo--nic conference and webinar that talks about RTO and then sell leadership this c**p. Make no mistake: this is not about providing the right space to be productive but about control.
@mew2. Dont want to upset anyone but I can confirm there is a push from a particular major shareholder to reduce headcount of those who haven't RTO. It's pretty widely known in the Investor space who it is and a primary driver for the current dialogue, "we must be more competitive"
I just don't understand. Do you really believe you are better then a Global pool of talent? Investors don't care that you don't have 2 wide screens, stand up desk or a fruit bowl in the office. Wake up before it's too late.
There are expats in the U.S. not going into the office. Why are they even on expat assignment? I know one who has even “worked remotely” for months at a time in their home country, all while receiving expat benefits. The “flexibility” is out of control because everyone is so afraid to push back for fear of upsetting “well being”.
Bring back COVID
Finally a (mostly) good post about why our specific RTO su-ks. Everyone on here is usually foaming at the mouth saying SHUP UP AND GET BACK IN, YOU LAZY YOUTHS. But right now you have some groups that come in (at best) two days a week and their dedicated full office with a door sits empty on the others. And then different teams packed like sardines into shared spaces where a phone conversation is impossible with the ambient noise and sh---y IT hardware. Actually make all the working spaces equitable then try to have an adult conversation about why we “need” to RTO.
"RTO doesn't help collaboration or productivity" ......hahahah...stop it please. Jokes over and so is covid.
Absolutely right. There is no point in RTO. It's doesn't help collaboration or productivity and they don't have the space for it in Houston. MW wants his control back.
@dzb are you also trading your premium, R&Rs, HUE, etc etc? Let me know!
Love the flexibility. Talk as loud as I want. Most of us use headphones or Airpods.
Wanna trade the spot I have at an old trailer in a camp in the third world? We don’t even have 9/80’s here!
