Speculation on Centene Layoffs in 2024
"Despite the absence of an official confirmation from Centene, rumors and speculation about possible layoffs in 2024 have been circulating. A user on Reddit claimed that a new round of job cuts might occur starting from early January to the end of the first quarter. The user mentioned that several actuaries at Centene had been notified about layoffs. While this information is not verified, it has raised concerns among employees and observers. Speculations suggest that any potential layoffs may predominantly impact the Medicaid teams within Centene.

The announcement of layoffs in 2023 further exacerbated concerns, leading to a drop in Centene’s stock price. The reaction of the stock market to layoffs can vary among investors. While some view cost-cutting measures positively as a strategy to improve financial stability, others express concern about the company’s long-term prospects and its ability to overcome these challenges"

When your manager tells you that you need to be available more in the evenings and you respond that you have things to do after work and her response is "What do you do after work" you know it's time to go. 😄 There is no work life balance at Centene and they say that family comes first but they don't practice that at all. They really don't care if you leave or not though. Retention is not in their vocabulary. Such an unprofessional organization.

Stop putting in 11 hour days. You won't see a penny more for it.

Spend those 2.5-3 extra hours applying/upskilling because the job market su-ks.

Precision cuts. They’re already happening here and there.

It’s a delicate balance though. Can’t cut too deep too quickly because you just introduce more problems to stabilize.

I’ve survived a few rounds myself but the workload keeps increasing significantly as teams reorganize and reduce in size.

I like what I do, but it’s not sustainable working 11hr days long term so I’ve started looking.
