Or will they leave that to be HCSC’s problem?
After a while, it doesn’t make financial sense to get rid of some of the MA staff when you can just shove the financial burden of a lay-off on to HCSC.

To the below poster:
After a while duplicative roles are assessed and employees will be let go. They may or may not be given the chance to apply for another internal role.
But what about after HCSC takes over? What do you guys think will happen with current employees? For example, I’m sure they already have a Medical Director, HR staff, and so on. What will happen to these folks? Will jobs be found for them in other orgs, will they move over and get laid off?

“Just like buying a house, you can't say the curtains and fridge are included but then then remove them before closing day.”
That’s not wrong… but you’re right… just like buying a house. If you say you’re leaving your old appliances… I’m going to make sure they work and I like them before I accept that offer. If I don’t like the dishwasher and the fridge and I went they removed or no deal. I’m sure they’ll be removed.
Hscs bought the contracts, the membership, and the talent. There are probably things in the contract saying they have to receive a high percentage of the talent that was in place when the agreement was signed. Just like buying a house, you can't say the curtains and fridge are included but then then remove them before closing day. I personally don't think there will be a lot of layoff in MA before the close.
MA already had cuts summer and fall of last year. I personally know of over 25 employees from many different departments let go. I heard that some front line departments are still fully or over staffed. But backend Medicare staff already has been gutted. We've been working with a skeleton crews for months. The holidays were tough as whenever someone took PTO, we got behind or delayed. We are barely meeting CMS metrics and requirements with the backend staff we have now, If they layoff anymore, we'll be out of compliance.
I would expect big cuts to MA.
They will have to keep enough staff to maintain CMS compliance, but anything extra will certainly be looked at. Analytics, marketing, etc. would be the types of future-looking roles that probably aren’t necessary.
